I'm turning 30 in a few days and feeling a little lost about how to move forward.

I started going back to school for engineering a few years ago. Took had some set backs along the way (school dropped my classes the day before semester started, didn't have money another semester)

I was moving towards a path in mechanical engineering but I'm starting to think that software would be a better choice for me given the career options.

Reasons to doubt:

  1. I'm basically 30 and a minimum of 2 more years of schooling is really demoralizing.

  2. I feel really intimidated by the amount of information I'll need to learn to be competitive in the software engineering field. I've taken a few computer science courses and did well in them but whenever I start reading material on my own I just feel like there is so much I don't know and that I'll never be able to get up to speed.

  3. Although devbootcamp option would be less valuable than a software engineering degree, I could be done a typical program by summer and possible be working a decent job by the end of the year. However, I feel like i'd hit definitely hit a ceiling in terms of job possibilities.

Any thoughts?
