As a high functioning autistic, people from DEI like to call me to their committee to represent the autistics. I've been to some DEI meetings, having a representative for any inclusion topic.
Several people in these meetings are chill, but generally it is an extremist from a "movement that shall not be mentioned in this sub" that goes ballistic and: - make the DEI meeting about her issues - complains the company has too many men - complains the DEI committee has too many men - complains there are too many men as managers - anything a man does has a related buzzword (manterrupting, mansplaining, toxic masculinity, ...)

There are many flavors of DEI. Naturally, an effort should be made to make everyone feel comfortable in the workplace. However, there is absolutely no need for diversity hires for that. I have seen lazy, incompetent women hired under DEI who have cost companies millions of dollars. HR will swear that unsuitable people are never hired under their DEI. They are liars. I have seen it far too often. Further, these diversity hires are impossible to correct because they always defend themselves with accusations of sexism or racism. DEI is poison.

Well, I can say for sure that this was a problem well before Feminism, the MeToo movement & DEI. Like for one thing I don't get why people blame DEI for a lot of things when a lot of things currently in place were this way prior to all of this DEI nonsense. The female pilot crashed the chopper in DC that killed all those people, DEI like NO then what do we call all the times a plane crashed & the pilot was a straight White male? In any case though, I think all these movements just made what was already an issue a helluva lot worse...

The rhetoric has turned every interaction into an inquisition, and honestly it’s the harpies that have flooded the minds of the youth distorting their concept of the world. Add to this the rampant narcissism brought about by interacting on social media and everything is fucked. One of the worst things to happen with these two issues is that now 5s think and behave like 9s and won’t accept anything below perfection lol.

In an effort to not tarnish ideas that could (should) have been positive...

I'll just say that giving power and authority to people who are not used to having it has effects... Like when we were kids and asked each other what we would do with a super power, and one of the group would say something painfully oppressive and we'd either make a double take or turn our heads like confused dogs.

Turns out even adults don't think their actions have consequences. So those same kids that made us happy super powers aren't real, are showing us what they always wanted to do.
