I know a girl from the gym where we always train—the same group: the owner, another guy, two girls (her and another girl), some kids, and regulars. There's been a mix of attraction and tension with this girl for a while now: constant jabs, gestures, jokes, provocations, and fleeting glances. She's very sociable with everyone, but she acts differently with me: when we talk, she gets nervous, avoids eye contact, fidgets, starts doing exercises, and often interacts with me in public, but rarely sits down to talk quietly alone. When she's alone with me, she opens up more emotionally, but then she shuts down again. I tried to make progress with a direct and calm statement ("I enjoyed talking to you the other day"), and since then, her behavior has become more erratic: sometimes neutral or cold, sometimes provocative, even verbally aggressive in jest, as if she wants to keep the game going without moving forward. The gym environment complicates everything: there are other people around, social competition, and the risk of bad vibes if I escalate things incorrectly. She seems to need attention, validation, and playful interaction, but she avoids taking any clear steps outside the gym setting. I want clarity: to meet her outside to see if there's anything real (or at least put an end to the doubt), but I don't want to get caught up in an endless dynamic of tension and aimless games or create discomfort in the group.
