I left one year ago today. It has been a hard year but not without bright spots and personal growth. The loneliness has mostly turned to solitude. I’ve learned the difference.

My two college aged kids are on their way over right now. I didn’t even have to ask or invite them. They are coming over on their own accord. That feels incredible particularly because my relationship with my oldest hasn’t been the greatest. This is a true bright spot.

I admire everyone here who has shared their journeys and experiences. It has been helpful to me. I hope my occasional contributions were of some help and consolation. The wisdom we all gain through this experience is individualized. There are no silver bullets, magic beans, or all-in-one solutions. For me, it’s been sheer discipline, structure, and finding/creating the positive outlets that work best for me. And even with all that, there are still tough days and still tougher ones to come.

I wish everyone here tomorrows that get just a bit easier with each passing day.
