I'm done.
We have a couples session tonight. I'm going to just to listen to what she has to say and get a feel for the therapists. I'm setting up a place to land and should be ready to move in the next two weeks.

Things were said in December that I just can't get over. It's been years of me not feeling chosen, loved, but not chosen. I have needs/dreams/desires and I don't believe she can or will try to meet them.

How can I navigate tonight neutral?

How do I get to the point where I just say therapy isn't going to work, I've made up my mind that I need to move on in a healthy way?

I wrote this letter to read. Can you provide feedback, please?

Dear XXXX,

I want to let you know that I have filed a petition for divorce. This is a quiet decision rooted in taking our individual paths seriously, and in recognizing what is healthiest for both of us moving forward. My hope is that this creates space for each of us to move ahead honestly and with integrity.

It is very important to me that we approach this process with respect and kindness, and that we do our best to be amicable with one another, knowing this is already a difficult time. Above all, I want our babies to see two parents who are able to thrive, rather than remain in a relationship shaped by ongoing strain and unmet expectations.

I still care deeply for you—as a person and as the mother of our children. This decision is not made lightly, but out of a need to protect my emotional and mental health and to move forward in a way that is sustainable for me.

My hope is that, together, we can navigate this transition with care and cooperation, always keeping our children at the center.
