As the title says. I know it's a show, but brilliant and driven people like this do exist.

Let's eliminate the anti-social behavior, how can someone like that emanate so much power? In the end, he's just a very logical person, and he has this ability to make himself likable to anyone he wants to, not in the superficial "nice to hang out with" way but in a more profound way.

Males in society go after women, no way around it. It's all about reproduction:

  • Power gives them women.

  • Nowadays, money gives them power which gives them women.

  • In some contexts, physical strength gives them power which gives them women.

  • If used correctly, intelligence gives them power which gives them women.

This guy, on the other hand, craves power but ignores the women part. It's like power for power's sake. And ironically, both women and men find this extremely attractive, which is why his character (I know, a tv character) is so likable.

And all in all, he's a normal guy. He's not "crazy" weird or anything, he's really smart and knowledgeable. He's not the "out of place" genius like the scientist from Pacific Rim or the "Mad Scientist" stereotype in love with science who will not get out of his lab. He's just not scared to indulge himself and do the things he likes, which a lot of the time make him seem out of place.

Is this just tv magic scripting or is there some social insight into him?
