- Social media was a terrible place even before cancel culture (e.g. toxic gaming/forum communities long predate this). now it's even worse

- going outside to bars ,restaurants and gyms is becoming illegal.

- private chat rooms and communities often have mostly a small number of casual users/idlers , uninterested in deep conversation, that often live in another country anyway

I find myself almost wanting to do podcasts or podcast-style conversations with local people but the big city subreddits have become even worse than Facebook, polluted with partisan talking points and generally opiniated / angry people, often either full of themselves or just plain stupid.

How the heck do you interface with the local, silent majority these days?
