What you've essentially done is hold up a mirror and he doesn't like what he sees.

He can now see that it's possible to improve himself like you have, but instead of using you as inspiration, his ego is protecting him by trying to bring you back down to his level.

This is called crabs in a bucket mentality. A true friend wouldn't feel this way, they would be happy for you.

Ignore his critiques, make it awkward when he does, if he ever snaps out of it and starts to improve himself, encourage him. Be the bigger man.

When dudes “shit test me” I just smile because it means that I’ve attracted the attention and thoughts of another man, who has to put energy and thought into “testing” me because he’s curious where I stand in the pecking order relative to him. The fact I’m even acknowledged shows that he’s frustrated I might be in a higher position.

I don’t shit test other men or give a shit about other men at all. I don’t initiate any kind of anything to another man. Any dude that disrespects me without prevocation becomes an unacknowledged nothing in my eyes

Same here as a formerly obese guy, I'm still abit fat at about 18% bf but I have good face and height(most of my muscles don't show) . Friends I've known for a long time will look for something bad to say, never really acknowledging my progress. These friends I've known for a while and I'm a very humble person. I get so much female attention now like 95% of the time I'm in public(I'm sometimes shy to go out in public now lol) , have lots of ONS and my friends just become invisible, I never really mention it around them, if I'm alone with one guy friend I'll never leave him alone to go with another girl. They tell me I must get bigger muscles and I'm still fat but most of the time I get the most attention around other muscular guys so I don't know why they telling me such things. I think it's just a little envy and it will go away over time. Dear lord don't even speak about guys I've met recently or work colleagues, they're much worse than my friends(always implying that I'm ugly when I don't get it right by one girl but never saying anything when I constantly bang hot girls) who have the highest levels of envy. So yeah you're gonna have to adapt to your higher smv now.
