There are a relatively limited number of surveys of rape statistics, and it is extremely important to note what, precisely, one defines as rape. If one tries to use an egalitarian (both women and men can commit rape, and do) definition, which is not the legal definitions, the CDC's most recent "National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey" notes equal levels of male and female victims in the last 12 months: http://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/nisvs/. One has to go to the full report, and include "made to penetrate" versus "rape" statistics (pages 18-19). This study indicates that if the legal definition of "rape" were egalitarian and included all non-consensual sexual encounters, the victimization rate would be equal between men and women. There are some more recent statistics involved in that wikipedia article, but they rely on legal definitions of what is rape.

The point most individuals here would make is that the legal definition of "rape" excludes female offenders unless they penetrate the victim's vagina or anus. Looking at the situation in a logical/egalitarian manner, one can see a rather obvious bias in said definition.

From the Australian Bureau of Statistics in its 2005 personal safety survey, 1.6% of women surveyed and 0.6% of men surveyed experienced sexual violence in the 12 months prior to the survey.

From the survey : SEXUAL VIOLENCE Sexual violence includes sexual assault and sexual threat. Sexual assault is defined as an act of a sexual nature carried out against a person's will. Sexual threats are threats of sexual assault which a person believed were likely to be carried out.

Well feminists will use whatever makes them look best and they will falsify result and misrepresent results to do it. But honestly 1997 aint that old the problem with that source is that the DoJ doesn't pretend to measure rape, but only arrests or convictions for rape so what you are measuring is wrong on two big grounds (1) that it's less than actual rape numbers (in particular the cops don't bother with male victims) and (2) that it massively shifts the ration of male to female victims by about 100 to 1.

This subreddit has used the most recent and best source which is a survey that was published in December 2011 and shows about equal numbers of men and women raped. (the NISVS by the CDC)
