What's wrong with Title IX?

Because men's and women's athletic programs have to have the same number of sports offerings, some very skilled athletes end up playing club sports when they would have played varsity.

For example, at the University of Michigan, there is a women's varsity water polo team. The men's team is club. There is a women's crew team. The men's is just club (despite being awesome). Often this disparity is "ironed out" by the presence of the "big" male sport (football), so female athletes get an extra sport. Still denies athletes a higher level of competition, though.

Also, Title IX is utilized as the legal justification for many on-campus legal disputes (especially those involving sex discrimination and sex crimes). Again, given the sad state of gender relations on college campuses, you can see where this would run into trouble.

Nothing. Title IX is fine. It's what you do with it.

Think of it like having a gun. The gun does not have morality. It is not right or wrong, it simply is. What you do with the gun is when right and wrong kicks in.
