it's already illegal. Men raping women, women raping men, men raping men, women raping women, it's all illegal

Actually a lot of governments define rape to be a man raping a woman. For the most part the other forms of rape probably get counted as some sort of lesser offense so you might be right about them being illegal, although in practise I think it's clear that rape of men by women is almost never charged in the USA for example, and various parts of the government (eg the CDC and the FBI's UCR) define rape in such a way as to exclude women raping men.

Surveys say women rape men about as often as men rape women and yet the conviction rate is about 100:1 (ie 100 male rapists convicted for every female rapist) and I bet almost all those cases are for a woman raping another woman, or as part of a group who attacked someone. Cases of women convicted of raping men are like finding a unicorn would be my guess. I wonder if those figures even exist (as I say the FBI would simply say there was no such crime).

And again the US government appears to unofficially use rape as a "cruel and unusual punishment" in it's prisons.

But if you only mean rape of women by men, then I guess your remarks are correct.

I found (eventually) one woman convicted of raping a man ... in Norway. So in effect the law simply doesn't apply to female rapists.

Amen to that.

The fact that it's not uncommon to see a rape allegation (not even a conviction or even a trial) lead to suicide, and pretty much guarantee that the accused will be shunned by society for life pretty much proves there is no 'rape culture'.

Also, since I have no overlap on the social venn diagram of 'me' and 'rapey douchebags' I am unable to 'teach them not to rape'.

"Rape culture" isn't the claim that rape is legal or that people consciously think rape is ok in the first place.

Its the claim that people are taught that male sexuality is inherently predatory and female is inherently like a gate that must be got around.

The way to debunk their rape culture argument is a two step process.

1) Find it what it means.

2) Identify the points that are correct and the ones that are incorrect, then debunk the incorrect ones and base the retort on that.

I don't think we are going to be able to do that though, its entirely possible to - but we are very adverse to step one.

Not to take away from your post, but I didn't even know francophobia was a thing. I had to Google it to even know what it is. That being said, I don't disagree with you at all; rape is absolutely a crime, and should be treated as such regardless of who the rapist is.

My girlfriend and I actually had this conversation last night because her friends husband lost his virginity at 15 to one of his friends mom. Turns out the mom was also seducing other highschool aged boys around that time. The thing about that is, society makes that "cool" ... high school kids banging a hot older mom ... but if the situation was reversed and it was a high school aged girl and an older man, he would have been locked up for sure.

I'm all for women's rights, and I know that there are things on both sides of the aisle that need to be resolved, but I think the stereotypical "feminist" is more concerned with women's rights than she is with gender equality. There are way too many double standards, and I'm glad that my girlfriend, a self proclaimed feminist, acknowledges these double standards. We've come to the conclusion that society needs to be more focused on human rights than on men's rights, women's rights, or gay rights. We're all people, and the sooner society recognizes that, and works towards equality for all, the better off we'll all be.

Then I looked it up and it said "the fear of France."

I've never heard of anyone criticizing the French or had any hatred to France. I'm actually super excited to play in Paris in Assassin's Creed: Unity. Is this a real issue in our society?
