Had my penis not mutilated, and I had problems like this guy, I'd have seen at least 10 doctors before even considering cutting anything off.

Fascinating read. I wouldn't pin suicide on a circumcision wholesale, but its interesting how it was an impetus for the tailspin. I have heard you see this a lot with trans people as well where the gender reassignment surgery can exacerbate a depressive state. I wonder if its just some similar effect.

This is the story of a suicide, and a discussion of circumcision preformed upon a willing adult, which the man identified in his suicide letter as the cause of his taking his own life.

IDK how to feel about it, when a man has killed himself, even tho he may identify a 'reason' for his action, such an action is beyond reason, and when writing a suicide letter, can anyone be said to be seeing clearly the magnitude of the issues he faces?

There is a lot of information about circumcision in the article, and about the effects it has or can have on an adult male, the only mention of pediatric genital mutilation is

Campaigners for "genital autonomy" believe it is wrong to circumcise a baby or child - whether they are male or female - because the patient cannot give consent, and these campaigners regard circumcision as a human rights issue.

and the rest is about men who consented to the practice.

Information about the effects of this procedure should be more widely available than it is, I saw a man asking for such information here a few days ago, experiences of adult men who have been circumcised.

In all i feel like no ones rights were violated here, unless it was a patients right to informed consent, and I feel like the thing is in bad taste as it seems to treat the suicide as almost justified. On the other hand, i read the whole thing and feel I gained something from it, so I'll have to upvote it and say thanks for posting.
