I don't think there's anything wrong with giving a girl you'd like to see again a tangible reminder of you. Don't spend too much, don't make it something that is not lasting, don't make it something utilitarian and don't let it become an expectation.

I cosign almost every other poster saying that you shouldn't. However, I invite you to experiment with it. If you want to do it, do it. Try it out on 50% of your girls and do the opposite with 50%. Like a science experiment. Report back when you have your findings.

On the one hand, you're enjoying it. So that's great, spoil yourself and her sometimes. Feel good doing it.

On the other hand when you do this, there are definitely thought bubbles going off in her head, the contents of which tend towards "Hmm, if he does that, what else can I get out of this guy?". She naturally amps up her sweetness and girl game, next thing you know, you're a full on slave, rationalizing to yourself that it's cool, after all you enjoy it...

The one thing a modern woman is not thinking is "omg, how nice of him to do that for me, I should find a way and make it up to him when I have the opportunity". So if you ever expect that, and deep down you always do in those kinds of dilemmas, then expect to be sorely disappointed. Her default reaction to beta provisioning behaviors is contempt for your compromised lovestruck state, not the normal human gratitude you might expect from her.

This is not a controversial idea. Woman have been using the positive reinforcement by using sexual favors as treats since time began. Once a woman achieves the desired behavior in her partner, the treat of sex is given at greater and greater intervals. Oldest trick in the book.

I would say it would be smart to stay within a certain limit. You don't buy a three hundred dollar necklace for a one night stand, but you might spend even more on an LTR for a birthday/anniversary.

It's all about balance here. Nothing beta about buying a girl nice things, if you have the money and it also makes sense with where you are in the relationship.

I think it depends. I used to receive gifts from women more than I gave them (not on purpose, I just never thought about it and they were generous), and I've thought before that it would be more advantageous to give vs receive in certain ways.

I think a lot of it has to do with your intention. A "pure" gift where you're simply exercising your power to create delight/happiness in the other person is awesome and creates a dynamic where they see you in a very positive light. Transnational gifts can go either way - they can feel like an insincere "tit for tat" exchange or they can feel like having each other's back. It really depends on how you approach it.

Gifts of obligation are the worst. For example I hate paying for dates with a woman right up until the point that she pays for me once because she wants to, and from then on I usually enjoy picking up the tab because I know it's not expected. Going dutch is worse though, it creates a weird dynamic.

Also I recently realized that women can and do spent significant money on looking good for you if they like you so that's something I consider now when deciding what I should shell out for. Also sometimes you just have to spend some money in the course of having a good time, just like you do with regular friends. You definitely shouldn't be more uptight about money than you usually are just because you're out with a woman.

But at the same time don't get milked or buy gifts for someone who isn't providing you with what you're looking for. And don't overdo it. That's probably the important part. Even if it's having a good effect too much repetition will ruin that - kind of like a cake with too much frosting. They will admit that it's sweet but won't want to put it in their mouth any more.

Once those words are uttered i automatically respond "no i dont, i can get that anywhere" if she is making you feel lime you have to buy her things after sex or saying she wont have sex with you if you dont buy her that.

Those words make me feel like shes trying to have complete control over me which is ussually the case and a relationship like that has never lasted much longer after she says things like that.

I reward my girl for sex, with extra cuddles and being sweet and taking her to dinner or flowers etc, so that she gets conditioned to the idea that for these awesome things to happen, sex happens first.
