Can women be alpha/beta too?

I spend way more time thinking about this than probably needed. buuuut... I don't really think its a matter of personal looks. Its drive and personality and how you accomplish a goal

Alpha females totally exist. Even within more traditional roles. My mother is absolutely one. A lady I nanny for who is the ultimate housewife and mother is the most alpha female I've ever met. And I absolutely lean Alpha. (Though. She cracked me up and said once "You either need a strong Alpha male in your life who's gonna handle his shit and take care of you and stand up to you. Or a nice Beta make who will watch the babies and keep house clean and do what you say." Which lord is that true. No room.for wishywashy men here. You wanna be nurturing and not make big decisions? Thats cool. but commit to that and don't gimme crap when I do. Lol) They're strong women with strong opinions, women of immense protective instincts. Pride for their family, their home, will tear your throat out if you DARE mess with their babies or friends. But are also immensely supportive and figure things out for you when things get tough.

But beta females in my mind absolutely exist as well. I tend to think, (and in not a bad way.) That they're sort of the vanilla ice cream of people. They don't naturally crave someone else to make decisions and take control and handle things (like my best friend. She "Wants to be included all the time but doesn't want to make plans herself") But they also don't have super strong "Gung Ho lemmy handle it." Personalities. They're the girls you knew in highschool who you can't think of a bad thing to say about yet didn't exactly have outstanding amazing personalities and weren't in the drama club or organizing food drives. They're just. .. nice. They probably ended up a dental hygienist. Think BoomChickaPop is amazing and like being on the PTA so they can help (But also dont run it. Thats for other women)

Women come in all sorts of shades and desires and motivation. Alpha and Beta are just... discriptor words shrug

I think alpha and beta women do exist.

I’d consider a woman alpha that is confident, knows herself, does not feel the need to compete with men, successful, not overbearing but has a certain level for respect for herself in relationships, isn’t clingy, keeps herself together (mentally, emotionally, spiritually, financially), respects other women and people who may not have the same views, has a good attitude.

A beta woman would be insecure, angry, unkind to women who may have more conservative beliefs, overly aggressive, little respect for herself and others, thinks “all men are trash” instead of looking at what they may be doing to contribute to the relationship, sticks up for beta men, little drive/direction or constantly blaming men and race for their lack of success instead of working harder

The entire concept that only males are alpha is 100% myth. The term alpha male was first coined by a wolf biologist named Dr. Mech… “David Mech introduced the idea of the alpha to describe behavior observed in captive animals. Alphas, he wrote in his 1970 book "The Wolf: Ecology and Behavior of an Endangered Species," win control of their packs in violent fights with other males.

But, as he outlined in a 1999 paper, he's since rejected that idea in light of research into the behavior of wolves in the wild.

In nature, Mech writes, wolves split off from their packs when they mature, and seek out opposite-sex companions with whom to form new packs. The male and female co-dominate the new pack for a much simpler, more peaceful reason: They're the parents of all the pups.

All of which is to say: Humans who enjoy the idea of "alpha males" might want to keep in mind that there isn't really any such thing. And to the extent the term has any meaning at all, it describes the behavior of captive, lonely creatures.”

I watched a Rollo Tomassi podcast that suggested the Alpha female is the prettiest girl in the room. Not sure to what extent that's true but it sounds about right.

If you were talking about hard biological evidence for such a thing, I'd look into the McClintock effect (menstrual syncing). Apparently the "alpha female" is the determiner of the cycle for those who live with her.

Outside of that, if you're talking about personality differences like "morally respectable and having good character traits vs. morally slobby and having poor character traits", then yes obviously they exist on both sides.

A better question is "what determines what is alpha?" Are alpha males alpha because they're bold, or are they alpha because boldness is attractive to women? Are alpha females alpha because they're strong-willed?
