If you actually read up on the subject, then you'll find that most cases of herpes are asymptomatic, meaning the people who have it never have outbreaks. Furthermore, it's not a very common to be tested for herpes when you are taking a common STD test. Basically, most people who have herpes don't know it.

Taking all this into consideration, you have most likely slept with a few women who have herpes already. This one was just unlucky enough to actually have symptoms.

As an aside, the chance of transmission while using condoms and Valtrex is fairly low... like a 2 to 3 percent chance in a given year of sexual contact with an HSV positive partner.

She claims she's on all meds, hasn't had a breakout in three years and that she had unprotected sex with her last two long term boyfriends over periods of years and they never caught it

Women will say anything to stay in the positive light of someone they value. Watch the intention behind her words. Why is she saying these things? What's her "end goal"?

Truth is, it seems that she's afraid of the fact that she has herpes impacting her social life. Most of the weight of herpes is the social stigma, and while what others think of it may not matter to an Alpha, to an attractive woman it could severely impact her provisions of future feel good stimuli (orbiters, future Alphas, etc.)

Since, hypergamously speaking, she may consider it easier to infect you to keep you quiet/so that if she sinks you both sink/to give herself more leverage between you two. But that's just speculation. I don't have much to go off of here.

But honestly, whether a woman tells you or not, with odds like that you're bound to run into someone else with it eventually.

Again, it seems that herpes is stigma more than anything else. Whether you choose to take the plunge is all up to you.

I almost took that plunge once recently - she never said she had it put a friend told me she did. I still don't know if it was true, the friend may have been trying to discourage me as he was bitter about a failed relationship he had with her.

I researched it before I was going to - I found lots of contradictory info on Reddit and the web...

For example, you read about the long odds of contracting it, yet you read stats that some large percentage of the population has it... Well if the odds are so long at getting if from someone, why do so many people have it?

You also read many saying it's "not a big deal"... "not the end of the world", so many people have it, etc. But those remarks are from people that have it, of course. Hey, I get it - they want everyone to think that, to remove the stigma. But we all know it is a "big deal".... Sorry.
