People have either a Job, a Career or a Business

A person with a Job trades his time for money. They are the mindless hive drones who punch time cards and try to work as little as possible without getting fired.

A person with a Career trades his performance for money. This is the sales area where a lot of money can be made. It should your goal in the beginning.

A person with a Business is his own man and it's the best way to become rich.

So avoid job, start a career and become a business owner. For acual fields STEM/Sales are the best.

There is no such thing as an RP job. Your best option is to get a job/career you enjoy putting time and effort into.

STEM or Lawyer are normally considered the main ones. Sales is very popular too amongst TRP because it's mainly about charisma so you can be very successful without even having qualifications, but that's mainly if you can't get a job in your field or don't have a good qualification.

Don't do it for the money. Do something you enjoy, learn the industry, then start your own venture. That's the only way to really be happy, IMO.

Ok, where to start. Here are some questions:

Have you asked your dad if he's happy being lawyer? Something like 2/3 of the profession is not.
How would you pay for law school? Something like 85% of law students graduate with over six figures of debt. That turns you into a slave.
What about post-law school employment? Does your dad have his own firm you could work at? The unemployment rate among new LS grads is pretty huge at the moment.
Would you be happy being a lawyer? If you work in Big Law you're going to be surrounded by egomanias who are also assholes. Hopefully, you will be highly compensated for it, but I'd last about ten minutes before I said, something like, "Well here's YOUR fuckin' problem..."

You need to plan out your end-game on this. The good news is, you can go to law school on basically any undergrad major, so pick one that gives you an alternative, like business, or STEM or whatever, so you have options.

A couple other pieces of advice:

If you decide to go to law school, take a prep course for the LSAT. It counts basically half of your admission. Spend the money. I'd suggest Kaplan (which I took). It made a TON of difference. If you learn better on a different program, fine, but the LSAT is a skills-based test and you can learn to do well on it.
Stay/Get in shape. It will never be easier for you than now.
At undergrad, take a language or two. Russian/Spanish/Portuguese. Then go spend your summers somewhere where the girls speak those languages so you can reap the benefits.

Source: I am a lawyer. I work for a large company, make bank, and love my job. That makes me a unicorn among lawyers. The figures about shitty employment prospects are from a recent NYT article. If I can find it again, I will post the link.

It doesn't matter much which field you go into as long as it's one you enjoy. You should strive to be better than a middle manager. What I'm saying is that you should be in a position where you can make the company and yourself money. This way you have some control over your own self.

If you go in for the money/status and has no interest and passion in the field you'll be garbage and miserable.
