I would like to track my wife's periods so I can test adjustment of my strategy in various phases of the cycle. However my wife uses a 3-month pill. It is the generic of Seasonique, which is levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol. If you aren't familiar, she takes one pill each day for 84 days, then has a 7 day period, then starts the next 84 day cycle. She has 4 periods per year. When not on birth control she has a regular cycle period (28 days) .

She has 29 pills left in this cycle and she will have her period the week of April 26 - May 2. Without birth control this current week (March 22-28) would have been a period week. I've been trying to notice any difference in mood but I didn't detect anything. I haven't given this much thought before the last couple of months so I can't remember previous cycles.

I looked at several pharma websites and I did not find an indication what happens hormonally. The info only says it "suppresses ovulation".

I'd like to know if anyone knows if the hormones associated with ovulation/menstruation happen on the natural 28 day cycle even if she is on an 84 day cycle of taking the pills. Or maybe someone might know the best place to ask.

NOTE: Some people have concerns about long duration BC and fertility. We are done having kids. She probably won't be on them more than a few more years (menopause is around the corner).
