I’ve been with my wife 12 years, married 5 (started dating when she was 15 and I was 17). I’ve been her only sexual partner and LTR. We both come from two parent families (father and mother raised), she was raised in a fairly Christian household but she isn’t very religious.
For the past 3 years, I’ve been living in a dead bedroom, sex a few times a month when I initiate. She has never turned me down when I’ve wanted sex; she just isn’t participating. Neither of us have let ourselves go, she is still petite (5’1” 95lbs), and I’ve worked out for the past 13 years of my life and I’m in the best shape of my life right now. She constantly wants my affection and attention but doesn’t really go any further into bedroom territory.
According to her, she is never spontaneously horny anymore and she doesn’t masturbate anymore. The only time she starts to get ‘in the mood’ is after we’ve already started having sex.
Is it medical?
About 3.5 – 4 years ago she started taking a new brand of birth control and her sex drive went to zero (this is around when she stopped getting horny and masturbating). She also started having severe anxiety and random panic attacks. She got off the birth control because she thought it might be causing the issues, and stayed off for about 6 months, but her sex drive never returned and she is still having problems. About a year ago she got a non-hormonal IUD but still no improvements.
I really don’t know what else to do here. I’ve read MMSL and The Rational Male, but I didn’t really get much from them as I already do/know most of the stuff talked about in those books. I’ve lurked on TheRedPill for over a year now and agree with its’ relationship philosophy more than other ‘types’ even though nothing seems to work in my case.
I really don’t want to next my wife (and I don’t plan on it) but I can’t live like this forever, I’ve got to figure something out. I’m hesitant about applying any kind of serious dread game or bringing up getting myself a FWB because it could do irreversible damage to an otherwise good relationship, especially if it’s something medical.
What advice or take on this situation would you guys have?
