The books that helped me maintain frame more where first, NMMNG (getting rid of those covert contracts is awesome) and WISNIFG (it has tons of tools to not let shit bother you). Since this is such an important topic, I suggest you stop skimming and start reading those books.

"Frame" is actually referring to cognitive frameworks. One of the best definitions I've seen is this:

A frame is a psychological device that offers a perspective and manipulates salience to influence subsequent judgment.

In practice, and in RP in particular, it refers to you creating reality for yourself and others. It is essentially control of reality.

For example, you meet a woman who immediately shit tests you. You have presented yourself as confident and in control, and she is trying to break that frame. You, being slick, use amused mastery followed by a hard neg on her to put her in her place. You walk off calm, cool, and collected, your frame intact.

This was posted a while back in MRP.

For me, it is one of the best examples of frame.

Notice at 2:10 when he wins at go-karts, she walks off all pissed off and flips him off.

A man with no frame would run after her and beg her forgiveness and probably engage her in a fight.

What does Cena do? He laughs at her and stays in his frame, which is having fun. Look at her reaction as it pans over to her. She's barely containing a smile. Do you think she would have that reaction had he ran over to her and started apologizing, thereby entering her frame of being pissed off?

Then again at 3:50, she storms off again mad.

Again, a beta with no frame would run after her and start apologizing and begging her to come back.

He does not follow her, but instead stays in his frame. He jokingly tries to reel her back, with a total IDGAF attitude.

THAT, my friend, is frame.
