Think about going into a hard STEM program, and THEN learning how to MARKET what you've learned?

Also consider biotech, too. Biology + computer science will be an incredible field.

That does't mean you won't have a career in marketing, but as a business person, you'll be able to sell and market complex things that a "business major" simply won't.

and, all that being said, an undergrad business degree is still better than art history or women's studies.

Yes. Get the fuck out of that business bullshit. I'm serious. This is the one time you should take advice from an internet stranger regarding your life. Literally like 80% of the college kids in my area go to school for a bachelors called Business Management. They think they're going to start their own business, or manage someone's business or something. No, you're going to end up working some shit job for $15 an hour on a factory production line.

I'm biased because I'm a huge nerd, but go to school for either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. You can still go far with a Mechanical Engineering degree, but there are a lot of ME's out there, I believe they are payed lower these days (right out of school, anyway). But an engineering degree can be leveraged in lots of different ways. You can end up with a high paying job that's completely unrelated to engineering specifically. Engineers specialize in solving problems. Lots of different industries need people who can break a problem down and come out with a solution.

My recommendation would be either Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Both routes can easily put you into software. And you'll be well rounded when it comes to the physical hardware.

A business degree is only good if you’re focusing on Finance or accounting

It depends on what school you’re going to. Business degrees from top 20 undergrad programs push kids into great employment opportunities regardless but don’t change just for the major clout. If you actually like programming go for it it’s the best thing to Major in now because it’s a skill. but realize the competition is incredibly steep.
