Fucked up and hooked up a few times with a girl who is friends with all my friends. At first I thought it might be casual but she started to get super clingy, didn't want to go out anymore, just wanted to come over and stay in and watch movies. This was after 3 weeks by the way. This was starting to get suffocating by itself but now she's telling people we are a couple despite no conversation about it on my end, so I want this fling to end.

Since her friends are my friends, I would prefer to have her end it so it doesn't look like I was using her for sex only and then got bored and dumped her as it might cause our friends to side with her if/when she gets pissed. Ghosting isn't really an option and I was thinking about trying to go super beta and needy on her but I feel like that might backfire since she's already super needy and texts me "I miss you" and whatnot. I fear she would love it more if I started doing the same. I don't mind coming across as beta since I learned my lesson about not hooking up within the friend group.

She's fairly attractive, but somewhat socially awkward, so it's not really a bad look on my end but her personality is what would prevent me from trying to keep her as a plate.
