Creating an extreme focus on self, mindfulness and discipline. A true monk will be given only the bare basics (robe, bread, water) and learn to survive. Through survival teaches you habit and becomes your life. I always try to step back and look for improvement constantly, it's what keeps your life simple.

Realistic: It means first and foremost, MGTOW. Pay women no attention whatsoever. The second part is reducing social interaction and promoting positive habits. Stop drinking, stop going to bars, stop going to social events, stop "hanging" with the crew, and limiting attendance at family events. Solitude is one key to Monk Mode. In solitude, you take a good look at yourself and decide what you want to change in the context of your basic attributes. "I want to be better at approaching women" or "I want to be more assertive at work" aren't Monk Mode goals. You want to learn a trade, learn another language, immerse yourself in arts, study history, study politics, hit the gun range, hit the gym, take a trip by yourself. In Monk Mode, you use your solitude from social situations to work on yourself, by yourself.

Unrealistic: Some guys on here are saying Monk Mode is moving into the woods and becoming a hermit. I suppose this is viable for some, but realistically most of us have jobs and obligations that prevent this. I also disagree with this interpretation because neither MGTOW nor Monk Mode should mean complete withdrawal from all aspects of society - just withdrawing from interacting with wahmen.

Social isolation as a virtue. Probably stems from Henry David Thoreau's philosophy of going into the woods and sucking the pp of life. You should be going squad mode and radicalizing your frens.

It's like checking yourself into rehab without the rehab and 12-step programs. Basically you swear off all your vices for a while and spend all your time on self-improvement. Don't watch porn, don't try to get laid, don't overeat, quit smoking, quit drinking, lift weights religiously, adhere to strict diet, don't spend money on frivolous things, don't play video games, etc. Your whole life revolves around work, diet, exercise, and lifting weights. Once you've hit your goals or fixed your problems then you start slowly rebuilding your social life.

Suppose you're 100 pounds overweight and addicted to porn, gaming, and weed. If you did monk mode you would forget about even talking to women and cut out the porn, gaming, weed, and go on a strict diet, maybe losing 2 pounds a week for a whole year. You get the idea.

Boot camp and basic without joining the Marines.

Getting your foundation properly setup before gaming girls. Can happen for any guy.

Involves:

Retreating from society for a set time (1-6 months, 18 months if you're fat and need to shed >100 lbs)

Working out religiously

Reading RP books religiously

Cutting out all social media, tv, distractions in your life

Cutting out toxic people

*Optional monk mode: Getting into a hobby and becoming an expert

Usualy it means to go hide in a cave and focus on yourself. Find solitude. No social media, and no girls. Focus on improving yourself.

Writing down everything you have to do in your To Do list, Calendars in a routinely matter and not accepting to do anything on those times, other than the written down activity.

You can still be social, still play video games and stuff but only if you have free time left from your routines.

Most Monk Modes are super busy and packed with self building activities that people usually don’t have time for short term pleasures like video games or mindless socializing.
