I wouldn't pay more than a cup of coffee for a first interaction. If you're getting drinks you should be screening when you ask to split the bill. Some guys don't mind paying for drinks, but my personal peeve if it's a first date I ain't spending more than a bag of Skittles.

Why is it irrational? It makes perfect sense. The sex instinct is the driving force behind pretty much everything we do. It is our biological imperative. If you're doing jack shit and getting sexual satisfaction for it (literally the #1 most stimulating feeling that we can natural feel), you're training your brain for instant gratification This hit right on the head, and along with Aristotle's (Nicomachean Ethics) thoughts on "Will Power", and how those who lack "will power", are consumed by des…

By realizing it's not "you vs the world", but "you vs you". Have you tried to bond with your flat mates, or attempted to be social? Also, if you haven't already, just start doing something, anything. Simply the act of doing something, will propel you, and in return you will receive motivation, and your depression will slowly fade. Don't wait for motivation, just act. I've been in that similar mental state, but you gotta learn to stop being a victim and pick yourself up.

It does get better, and you get better at handling it. I lost an important father figure in my life at the beginning of the year. What kept me sane, was a routine and to continue focusing on my goals. Although sudden deaths are a little different, because you lack the necessary time to prepare yourself. However, the same concepts apply. Give yourself 5 mins to feel down in the dumps, but don't stay there. Focus on the positives, and live for your friend. The memories you created together, and ex…

Unless you've done impact sports as a child, it's quite hard on the body. Lifting doesn't necessarily prepare you for the amount of rib pressure you'll constantly face, nor does it prepare you for getting thrown. Not to mention, lifting doesn't carry over as much as I thought it would have, but don't get me wrong it does help to a degree. It will force you to evaluate your current gym schedule, or at least adjust your diet to compensate for the additional expenditure. As others have mentioned, i…

Just pick a beginner lifting program (LP). It doesn't matter which one as long as you will stay consistent on it, like 6+ months. As a noob, you want to focus on form, and mind-muscle connection. Everything else comes along with the discipline to stick with the program. LP's: starting strength Strong lifts 5x5 GZLP PPL (Push pull lift) ICF 5x5 *Majority of these are 3 day full body splits

Sounds like you just have poor time management and discipline. If you approach college with the following you will still be successful, and probably have a better out look. 8 hours to sleep 8 hours to study 1 hour to lift 6-7 hours to party & fuck around or develop yourself and your hobbies Embrace the suck, and "if you're going through hell, keep going".

Eat adequately, preferably at maintenance (40/40/20) for your required weight. Depending on your injury you can still do light activity, maybe add some walking. Expect your overall strength to go down, as you ease back into your routine. Muscle memory should kick in about 1-2 weeks, possibly 3-4 to get to your working sets.

It's exactly this, and a catch 22. Even after improving my SMV, bits of the shell of my former self still tends to linger. However, the only way to get over that bump is to consistently push that barrier. As we know, anything having to do with change, and the unknown tends to create fear due to uncertainty. The solution is of course outcome independence however, when you've had little success, you're heavily engrossed in the outcome. Thus, the catch 22.

Hip flexors are tight, foam roll. Glute bridges, planks, deadlifts, Romanian deadlifts, front squats/squats, farmer walks. As well, if you can, get a standing desk, so you're not in a seated position eight hours a day. Being in that compromising position, causes tension in your hip flexors. Learn how to engage your core when sitting as this will help with posture.

The problem with school systems, is that they have their own set of jurisdictions. I recall back in school, friends of mine got into legal trouble, however given school grounds policy, their rights were expunged completely. Yes, depending on the deficit, progression will be slower. As long as intensity is kept, strength will be maintained. Ex. Rather than progress every workout, you may need to stay on the same weight for 1-2 more sessions, increase weekly/bi-weekly, rather than per session. As long as your macros are in check, and you're getting adequate protein, you will maintain muscle/strength with cardio.

There's a certain aspect about Jiu-jitsu which Joe Rogan talked about. You essentially are playing with life and death, in a controlled environment. Martial arts is based not only on the idea of self-defense, but with the intent to severely injure/kill attacker/opponent. With that in mind, one has a great deal of having to usher self-control when performing/learning jiu-jitsu/MMA.
/r/askTRP31/03/19 01:12 PM

Depends on your goals IMO, if you want a good physique Bodybuilding, if you want to be strong, and have functional strength? Power lift. I was really into Bodybuilding, up until recently, when I realized it doesn't mean shit compared to functional strength. Don't get me wrong, I got great numbers from bodybuilding, but in martial arts like judo/jiu-jitsu, being big/slow is a big disadvantage. I'd rather have the explosiveness which comes from powerlifting.

I personally have a graph paper note book to track my lifts, like so. It's great to track your progress from workout to workout, as you will be progressively overloading each workout. You also don't need to think about what your next bump in weight will be, or what weight you're currently working with. Check out http://warmupreps.com tells you what size plates to use/warm up sets. Good luck!

Strength is based on CNS, and fast twitch muscle response. This is the reason why powerlifting, and strength training is low repition based, as it focuses on the neural adaption. If you notice powerlifters are smaller in nature, due to their programming. As well, mass is gained through hypertrophy, and of course excess caloric intake.

I don't rely on BMI/Calcs, as they don't seem to factor in muscle density. Rely on the mirror to gauge progress, from my point of view, you're fairly lean (10-12%). Try a 6 week bulk, two week cut, then reassess from there. I would try to bulk up to about 15% (Note: You will gain a bit of BF, but it's completely diet/macro reliant.). If you eat clean, you won't have to worry at all about the amount of fat gained, as it will be very minimal. Remember to recalculate your TDEE as it may have chan…

IMO you're in a great position to lean bulk/bulk right now. How do you define a dirty bulk? Are you skinny fat to begin with? If so, going into a moderate bulk would be more beneficial than a lean bulk/cut. most of the calories i'm consuming are from sugars and carbs Practically it sounds like your starving muscle development. You should adjust your diet accordingly, try going into a 40/40/20 split. Depends how much of a deficit you're willing to go under. I've heard of people doing 1k cals, to lose weight faster, but it's rather unhealthy, but if you're desperate for results, go for it. I'd start by walking everyday, increase the amount of time you walk per session. I have would recommend running, but the amount of excess weight can cause injury to your joints. Just stay in a deficit, and you should see some progress. Lift if you can.

I wanna say just about a year? or at least a month or two under. Wasn't entirely consistent but in total, a year. Took off a few months here and there for injuries and such. If you plan to do any 5X5 make sure to start light, eat well (300-500+), and good rest. I started with just the bar for majority of my lifts. Helps build the mind muscle connection, and more importantly form. Rest/diet will be the biggest factor in your ability to perform the movements, and physique.

Lol, exactly. You don't start by lifting 225. You start with the bar and progressively overload to gain form/muscle memory. By the time you've progressively overloaded to decent numbers your form will be well enough to prevent injuries. I started with the bar, now I'm still progressing but my numbers are there. The only way you injury yourself is by ego lifting and improper form. I did heavy amounts of research, and still do regarding my form.

Will add to this. Currently recomping, if you under eat you won't gain. On days you lift you eat slightly above maintenance. Days you're resting you eat slightly below, thus prompting optimal fat loss, and muscle gain. However, if you don't count your macros, you're sure to regain fat. I can tell whenever I binge out on sweets/poor diet for a few days, as I tend to see a bit of fat the next week. Where as, had I ate clean that week, I'd be a lot leaner than before.

Life has no inherent purpose, it's what we choose to value, is what brings purpose to one's life. Currently I see your purpose as working at a well paying job, so that you can enjoy life. Yet, here you are with a grand opportunity, playing the "woe is me" card. Enough of that shit, you're literally surrounded in opportunity, yet jerking your dick...Live in a state of abundance.

Everything we do is pointless and meaningless I personally enjoy this outlook. It gives more personal power to one's life. If everything is thus meaningless, then what we strive to create, inherently has more meaning to the individual. As well, it means by default that anything is possible, it simply takes a course of action.

Go to sleep. Lol. I think a lot of us experience those doubts/regrets. The key however, is to change focus. See the past as a learning experience, be more present, and do what you can now, to propel you into the future you want to achieve. "Acta non vebra" The thoughts will always be there, the key is to acknowledge, they're only thoughts, and not reality. Funny thing is, we have the ability to influence both.

Lifes way too short to regret what decisions you've made. Simply acknowledge where the mistake was made, and apply said learning for the future.

Yeah, you definitely need to up your protein intake, I'm 5'6 135, and it's required to take 1.2g/lb of bw. My intake per day on protein is about 170g. I'm on a recomp, quite similar to lean gains, and it's simply about cutting the calories, yet upping the protein intake, to compensate for strength/mass.

Recommendation for you: "4 Hour work week" Definitely has changed my outlook on building my life, without sacrificing one's time/energy/ as well as one's personal satisfaction. Definitely look into what's called a "Commonplace book", and the program titled "OneNote". Allows you to arrange a "digital journal", in the exact ways you have stated, possibly word for word! Yet, when one takes a look at the grand scheme of things, human's are equipped to survive, and pro-create. Nothing more, nothing less, everything else is completely subjective, and yet arbitrary. In order to achieve greatness, one must overcome these obstacles, and limitations which we were inherently born with. Thus, resulting in what one could call the "eternal struggle", "Greatness is not given, it is achieved", indeed.

Psychologist isn't necessarily needed, it's simply identifying those points/areas. Recognizing those areas, allows for one to move past hidden/unconscious blocks/actions. This is simply all that psychologist due, find the triggers/events which led to one's said action, then have the subject reframe their ideals around said event. If you follow a program rigorously, (over 12 weeks), yes you earned yourself a Deload! Week! You have two options: Drop the weight significantly (like 20-30% of current lifts), so you still manage to retain strength, Take the week off, then take 10%-20% off your current lifts and re-introduce your progressive overloads.

Focusing on the present moment alleviates those problems by a long shot. As well, acknowledge the amount of progress you've made, that's the only thing you should focus on. Ah, yeah make sure they don't overcharge you. In the end you set the rates, if she ask for 100+ on top of the 60, I'd be expecting more than a BJ. Maybe like 60-80? Just keep the amount of cash you want to spend no more no less, they'll try to bargain and vice versa. It's trial and error, read a few more forums to get an idea of what others are paying for the area.

Depends how much you are charged at a door. I.E. $60 at the door, then once the "extras are given, it could be a standard 100-120 on top for full service. (Standard tug should be no more than 20 extra to highest 30) Definitely depends how comfortable your provider is, and your ability to negotiate. Get on a body building program which incorporates a 5x5 three day split. You need to do some form of low intensity cardio. Yes, Low intensity, a 20-30 minute walk around the neighborhood on rest days. Doing high intensity tends to burn me out on a three day split program, however if you can do high intensity, more power to you. Also how long have you been bulking? "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson. Insightful book which compartmentalizes the factors of success, and what it takes to keep the trajectory going. Much like a crack in the windshield, the very actions you take no matter how small, even in thought, decide wether or not the glass will break. TL:DR: This book will give you the insig…

(Brushing my teeth, packing my stuff, getting a quick bite/making a shake/etc.) Doing all that wakes me up a fair amount. Once you step in the gym, it's no problem. It's more of a mental thing. Warm up sets really help with the grogginess, and helps prepare …

My ideology heavily revolves around the Special Forces/Navy Seals mentality to wake up everyday at 4 a.m. Prior to when I was just starting out for weight training, It was pure bliss, no waiting for machines, whole gym to myself. Not to mention, you get a big lead on your day as opposed to everyone else who's not an early riser, and definitely helps establish discipline. Although I'm not on the 4 a.m. routine anymore, with classes starting at 9 a.m. I may have to...

It ties into what users have stated here as well, instant self-gratification, which leads to chemical releases, and possible chemical imbalances in the brain, also known as (depression). As well, one's will power is undermined, if one breaks their goal; which in this case, could be no porn, masturbation, or orgasm. Instead, the individual should direct said energy, from "masturbation", into cultivating will power, and using said "will-power", for the individual's subjective goals/drive. Endorphi…

Eh, that's debateable. Prolactin, the surge of seratonin, and dopamine, associated with Porn, and release. Because the same rules apply: A "Gay" man, is still a man. A man of logic, with simply more feminine traits. The same concepts and rules apply. No need for specifics when it's already laid out like a blueprint. This is what I'm talking about, it's more about a goal I'm working towards, which makes it seem more justified. I put in the effort, I know the amount of dedication/time/effort it took, which in return would give said thing more inherent value, than simply "a nice shiny thing".

Very true, if you can't handle shit test from the buds, which if played incorrectly, almost always results in some sort of conflict, or disagreement. I've experienced this when dealing with male family members, before I'd simply lose my cool, now I've learned it's simply a test of one's character.

I made a similar post about this, and was suggested by Elliot Hulse, but get multiple min wage jobs for the meantime, the time you spend on video games is time you could be making money. Example: A blade of grass has no inherit meaning it simply is, just as a man's life has no inherent meaning, it's completely subjective. A scientist (Biologist) would say it's to reproduce, a Philosopher depending who you ask, would say it's…

THIS THIS THIS, if you're doing the core main lifts, no fucking need for ab work. I'll admit I was a sucker who believed you needed to hit abs every workout...FALSE. I've seen more improvement with the Big three on my core, than doing isolation work...Don't get me wrong, isolations are nice, but they shouldn't be the focus. Diet, body fat percentage, and your three core lifts will get you the abs you desire. If anything get on a decent bodybuilding program. I'm personally on Jason Blasha's I.C.F…

I can't agree more. The amount of time wasted on social media, is time I could be in a state of improvement. Why the fuck should I care about the Kardashians? I'd rather be face deep in a book, learning about something that actually matters not what someone had for dinner (Instagram).

Men are killing themselves because they have no sense of purpose...Look at the past (WW2) Era, men of that era had a sense of drive, and purpose. Well because they had to! It's been historically proven that in times of peace/prosperity there have been increases in male suicides. Why? Because they have no purpose greater than themselves...It gives you time to think/contemplate instead of focusing on self improvement/or a greater goal. Ex. Men who returned from war were given the "spoils" for thei…

I think having standards is what causes most men to not get laid...We have these fantasized ideals of ourselves, and what we deserve. Yet, in reality, we are no where near what "we think we are". This is were grounding oneself, and the putting the ego down, comes into play. I had this epiphany while in the gym, dealing with Hypergamy. A gym bunny would rather pick the 6'3 dude at the gym, over my short ass any day. Does that mean I give up? Fuck no, it just means I need to work a bit harder than…

Imo start light weight, even if it's just the bar, for form. Better to work your way up with perfect form, than pushing heavy weight with improper form, and injuring yourself. Weight increases each time depending on your program. (15-20 lbs) per workout session. I just watched Mark Rippetoe's video's regarding proper form, with squats I used a broom handle at first.

Focusing on the breath once the worrysome thoughts come bombarding in reminds me that everything will be alright. Everyone is different regarding to their macros, although look into the [40/30/30] 40% Carbs/30% Proteins/30% Fat I'd just do a bit of research pertaining to personal macro levels, and keep a calorie counting app if needed, I get lazy with mine, although when I was on top of it, I could pin point where I made gains, felt fatigued due to diet etc.

Take a week off from training. I'm experiencing a similar situation. You're probably over taxing your central nervous system. Watch your diet, get more healthy fats,(when I don't get enough fats, yet supply carbs/proteins, I tend to still feel sluggish) and balance carbs, as well as proteins.

First option dictates that it's the only day you're open. If she's into you, she'll adjust her schedule, or at least let you know. Second option states hey "I want to hang out with you", but I want you to make the choice...Not alpha at all. Women can't handle rejection. "I'm going on Tuesday, why don't you come join me?" If she says she can't, boom, she just rejected herself, and will hamster her way into proving her worth to you.

With women yes. Although with men, that's like intiating the fight response, (regarding intensity here). For women, eye contact is a sign of confidence, if she breaks contact before you do, (after an initial gaze, handshake etc.) It can be a subconscious action of submission. Notice how "alpha males", break contact by looking sideways, and never down, after an interaction.

Marcus Aurelius spoke about this in his meditations, and I believe, relates to expectations. Realizing that one has an expectation on an outcome will indefinitely lead to pain, and suffering. But why? Because in your mind, you have accepted/internalized one outcome for another. However reality doesn't always match our expectations which causes pain to our ego. Becoming outcome independent, and not being afraid of the unknown, is when we "learn". "You can't skateboard if you're always scared to f…

Funny, I had a conversation with my step father about this. "You can't compare your chapter 7, to my chapter 20" Most of the time people are so focused on the end results, without enjoying the process. I'm a firm believer in "Balance"/or an Equilibrium existing in the Universe. Whatever you don't have now, will eventually come. On the other hand, the amount of beta's willing to spend their "new" money on these women, as they casually string the bills along, is plentiful. These women are aware of the amount of money pouring in to the bay area with the tech boom.

I would call, push for a meet. Then balls in your park in terms of game, and what you want from this interaction. Lead.

^ You're not there to be friends, you're at work to make money. Associates? Yes, but friends? From my perspective too much of a time investment, and if you're not careful about what you say etc, could end up biting you in the ass. I'm a firm believer in not shitting where I eat, I value my time.

I'm starting to grasp this concept, although it's always when I'm not in school. I feel as though I haven't pushed myself enough to find my desired work flow. When I was taking full 18 units, my health was shit, priorities fell even harder, it was complete shit, and a waste of my time/semester. As much as I know that I have to go back to school, I'm enjoying the amount of time I have for my personal health, and generating passive income without being fully employed. I know I can do this while ta…

Or say it out loud while looking at yourself dead in the eye, till you mentally affirm it, and can confidently say "I am enough".

That's when one must take a step back, analyze their ego, and keep it in check. The ego will want to compare, fight, and fuss. Alhough as an enlightened being, who is a master of these emotions, one understands that the only person to be better than, is the person who you were yesterday. Staying present is key. From my perspective, if you can learn to see the world for it's labels, you realize labels are quite irrelevant. Stay present, stay focused, on the life you got now. It's the only shit we…

I mean that depends entirely on you. And what kind of friendship you're looking for: What aspects would those people have? What values would they hold? Would they share a common interest? I.e: You have the one group/person who loves to party, the person who is serious and likes to get straight down to business, and the like. It's all about the values and aspects you wish to surround yourself with. Although just like anything else, everything in moderation meaning the amount of time you spend wit…

Well she did mention her brakes and rotors, which I genuinly expressed I did mine last week. Will note that I still need to contact her, to get the specs of the car, all she told me was the make. (BMW, european cars particularly expensive to work on in a shop, so I'm definitely in a position to be used)
