When I'm a "niceguy" people sense that and treat me accordingly. This treatment then makes me angry. I then have a bit of an edge and this probably comes across in interpersonal communications. During this phase I'm less likely to slip up. I have a bit of a personality (in my eyes at least). (For e.g. if someone's being a bitch I'm quick to reply in a way to make them back off a bit.) But then sooner or later, I settle back into the "niceguy" ways. The cycle then repeats and repeats and repeats. This just builds resentment inside instead of acting it out then and there, and puts me in a negative attitude, which I so hate to be in. I feel like life is too precious to waste away so much of it in resentment or in "what if I'd only said that" or "if I'd only not given off that I'm-a-niceguy-walk-all-over-me vibe on that particular occasion", etc.

How do you break that cycle? How to have that edge more permanently? I don't fear confrontations, but I take time to switch between modes. By the time I'm ready with an appropriate response, the time has fucking passed. (I also don't wish to become some sort of an intense robot.)

Thanks for your time.
