Good thing women evolved an aptitude for manipulating men and not technology.

Police computer forensic investigators quickly determined that Matthew Woods could not have downloaded the images, as he had been compelled to leave the family home on a protection-from-abuse order at the time they were downloaded.

It's too bad he can't go back and get that order lifted, since she's clearly proven herself a liar.

Unfortunately, I've seen far too many men forcibly evicted from their homes during a divorce or break up. All the woman has to do is claim she's scared of him and they will issue an emergency restraining order barring him from the premises. Go near your own home and you're subject to immediate arrest.

And then you spend two months bouncing around on friends couches, barely get to see your own children, and even though everything is dismissed once they give enough of a shit to talk to you (you go before the judge) it sets a precedent that she is the primary care giver and primary resident of the home. So you lose both. Don't get married.

And when you finally get access back to your home all of your clothes and belonging are mysteriously missing.

Oh man you should see how the military handles it. Before I got out, my last 3 months was spent sitting watch duty from midnight to morning 3-4 days a week at a support command for a submarine group. I didn't have enough time left to deploy, so I got the elusive good deal. Basically the command functioned as support for 10-12 boats and their crews. Maybe a 2k-3k sailors total.

In that 3 months I checked in 20-30 guys into a barracks room, under police escort, for military protection orders. One phone call, just one, and the guy is out of his house with only what fits in a sea bag. This is just the MPO. This doesn't take into account civilian restraining orders, ect.. No proof of anything is needed. No bruising, photos, statements, just the act of picking up a phone and saying "I'm scared" is enough to get a man out of the house and in temp barracks room for months.

Of those guys, more than a few were then accused of a abusing their kids sexually. Of course, there was no prior police reports, it's only once the divorce is starting that these reports are made to authorities. House gets cleaned out? Car disappears? Boyfriend moves in? Tough. You have zero recourse to do anything about this. Under MPO you can't even call the house. Seriously. If all your stuff gets sold, that's it. There really isn't anything you can do. In fact, until 6 months to a year go by, you won't even know it's gone. How could you? Going to the house is immediate arrest.

Then these guys get to deal with trying to see their kids while under accusations of abuse, under the MPO, under the restraining order, and it's pretty much impossible. 3 weeks of phone calls, paperwork, paying a neutral certified monitor, permission slips and approval, may get you one hour, supervised, in a public place, with your kids.

I saw grown men go from living a normal life with their family, to broken depressed shells, practically overnight. All because the spouse wanted the boyfriend to move in, but wanted the paycheck to keep coming in as well. See, despite not living at the house anymore, the military ensured your paycheck still went to rent, and usually at least half went straight to the spouse. With kids, it's more than half. This would last for a year, while the police, military and court systems figured it all out. After the year, finally, the system would come to the conclusion that there was not enough evidence to support charges.

The guys who actually beat their spouses, or touched their kids, they went to jail. They didn't get stuck in this purgatory. Of all the guys I processed in, I never saw any of them prosecuted for abuse of any kind. Charges always dropped.

In their clambering to protect the women, and the children, all they did was create a system very easily abused by women( or men I suppose) to strip a person of all property and rights without any proof whatsoever. I cannot stress it enough, all it takes is one phone call. Absolutely terrifying.

Reason #13531431 not to get married.

Reason #7613133 not to leave women have unmonitored access to your electronics or domicile.

The scary part is that if there had not been proof the husband was not at fault, he may very well have been found guilty or at least even-more-shafted by the divorce.

This is a fundamental problem I have with 'possession' crimes like drug possession and child pr0n - it seems so easy to frame someone. The crime doesn't require doing anything, just having something on/in your property.

For example I never let known drug users at my place b/c you never know if they will leave paraphanelia behind (or other reasons like stealing crap for drugs or generally being unstable).

Get a bag of weed. Tape underneath someone's car. Call the police and say you saw this person smoking a joint while driving, give license #.

There have been so many reportings and videos of police finding bags of cocaine on young minorities.

What's wrong with that?

Edit: I can't format.

Inb4 she gets off with no jail time.

[–]Newdist216 points17 points18 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Inb4 this doesn't even affect the custody/child support arrangement.

[–]BitingInsects7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

On the bright side, they conducted an investigation. Which wouldn't happen in a lot of cities.

"Well I think as a woman, you've already suffered enough ma'am, I mean, what kind of misogynist, shitlord judge would I be if I gave you anything more than a warning?!?"

[–]laere2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Inb4 she is played off as the victim to her husbands misogynistic emotional abuse that forced her to do this to him.

"And people wonder why I won't let them use my computer, tablet, or smart phone."

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I also love how they say "misguided attempt" No, it's not misguided, its cold and calculating.

[–]AnotherLostCause12 points13 points14 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This should result in an automatic loss of custody for the woman. After all how could she care for kids when she is doing hard time.

[–]1raceAround1268 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That poor woman... she has a vagina! She's a delicate flower and needs our protection. Can we let her off? Who knows, she may come and have sex with me when it's all done...

[–]The_Psychopath0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So is she going to pedo-prison?

[–]riverraider69-2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

one felony count of sexual abuse of children

Main story aside, this is a fucked up charge. No children were abused by that idiot downloading images.

Child pornography use perpetuates child pornography production.
