I totally agree. It's not about the money. It's the fact that it's a HUGE loss of trust from a relationship that we pay to be confidential.

Institutions must be held accountable for their lack of oversight. If the dollar value was small it would be considered a cost of doing business and ignored.

If someone was taking pictures of my genitals without authorization and doing god knows what with them I would consider $22k an insult.

I get what this guy did was wrong, but it was just him. It wasn't John's hopkins that made this happen. So now 190 million dollars that should have been used on medical research and treatment for people dying of cancer is being diverted to women who had a picture of their cunt taken. I am not saying they didn't deserve some compinsation, but it should have be only slightly higher than the going rate for a stripper. That gives us an idea of the current market rate. Add a small premium to that since they didn't consent and that is it. No vagina pic is worth 22,000 dollars.

This is just more evidence of how overvalued vaginas are in our culture.

The fact is that it happened. The man took the pictures violating their trust and now they have to pay the piper.

These women are not strippers most likely because they think it is degrading so why pay them just more than a stripper? Amends must be made.

I agree. The settlement isn't just about "market rate" compensation for pictures of anatomy. It's intended to be punitive, to punish the hospital for letting this happen.

Sure the settlement will be paid by insurance, but you can bet your ass this is going to affect their premiums, or at least the insurance company is going to do it's own investigation and enforce tighter oversight and security to make sure this doesn't happen again.
