This mentality has been mentioned elsewhere. "Rape" has become a word with very real legal ramification associated with women, and their innate fluctuations of emotions.

It used to be about women losing all their value as a potential bride, because their "virtue" was no longer intact. It was an interesting and convincing read, I wish I had a link.

To make an accurate assessment I think we need to get each of the young men involved to the brink of pass out drunk then isolate them with a collection of physically much bigger and older mildly drunk men who very much want to have sex with him and see how each of them go at resisting.
