The importance of hobbies and interests is mentioned often, but not often discussed. What have you picked up since being here? What effect has it had on your life?

One of my biggest take-always from this sub is that it's important to have interesting hobbies. Girls want you to have hobbies and interests; it becomes one of their sources of pride (RP 101). Multiple women in my office constantly brag about the cool stuff their husbands do and the dreams they associate with it as a couple. This one girl's husband brews beer well. She doesn't know anything about it, but I'm sure she "helps" and she goes on and on about how they're going to open their own brewery (cute, good luck finding that capital). The dude is a bum career-wise, but he does cool stuff beyond the beer and is in good shape. Think she's leaving him anytime soon? Nope

My question is what hobbies have you picked up (or restarted) since joining this sub? How far out of your comfort zone have you taken yourself? What do you plan on picking up?

Personally, I spent last weekend designing and building a wine shelf completely from scratch. It was difficult as I've never really worked with wood, but goddamn did it feel good and it looks great as well. I've also joined two softball teams. I'm terrible, but I'm meeting more people and have something else to be excited for during the week.

Future goals are that I want to brew my own beer (I'm already a damn-creative cook), build a mountain bike, learn to spin DJ decks or make mixes, and start a new band (drummer). The DJ one is lofty, but techno passion of mine and why not try?

Hope this was a little informative and thought-provoking. I think working out and enhancing your career is paramount, but interests can not be left behind (I think they often are). I'm curious to hear what you guys are up to...
