The state of WA has a domestic violence law in place that states that absolutely any domestic violence fight between a male and a female means mandatory charges filed by the state against the male, regardless of circumstances. So even if the female party of the two fighting doesn't want charges filed they are filed anyway. She's the damsel in need of rescue whether she wants it or not. Between two males charges must be filed by the male party and then only if the officers deem it necessary.

So, even if the male party is totally the victim of an assault by his female counterpart she has only to be a female for him to be arrested and charged.

I have a relevant story.

My sister and I got in a scuffle over some stupid shit when I was like 17 - my sister 19. She was choking me out from behind and scratching wildly so I basically just sat on her to minimize the damage.

After I began to lose consciousness I managed to get up and get her off my neck.

She proceeds to call the police on me. Cops show up, talk us both separately and end up taking her downtown for the night - having scratches and bruised neck was actually noticed!

I thought it was ironic. I didn't press charges and told the prosecutor I wouldn't testify if they proceed so the state wouldn't ruin her life. She is still my sister, even if she can be a huge cunt.

EDIT: My sister isn't a fat slob either. She's thin/toned and I've been told she's fairly attractive. Naturally I don't see it...

I was surprised they didn't take me to be honest. Even then - way before TRP - I thought I was screwed for sure.
