Gerard Butler shamed for sexing up younger woman. Shamed for getting tubby. The woman shamed for being too thin.

"Making slurs about body size is just as offensive as making comments about body color," a spokesperson told TMZ Sports "One would think being a black man, he'd be more sensitive to having his physical body criticized. It's totally out of line. He should absolutely apologize."

You know, because there's nothing you can do about being fat.

Bye-bye baseball. The new American pastime is victimhood.

How many times have YOU been oppressed today ?

[–]NoLongerSisyphus 12 points13 points14 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love how they are using the fact he is black to try to shame him into supporting their cause.

[–]1aguy01 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is a pretty racist comment. They should absolutely apologize.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is pretty good. Because fat people, like black people, have had actual laws on the books that officially discriminated against them.

Ha, I guess. But for that analogy to work completely, the government would have had to make something illegal that could make you black after too many uses.

Fatness doesn't run in your family, nobody runs in your family.

Wait, National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance is a real organization?

When we talk about rationalization, this should be the shining example...

Well, somebody needs to spread the message that "thyroid problems" causes 4 out of 5 fatasses. Right now, that knowledge can only be found on every comment thread about obesity on the internet.

[–]NoLongerSisyphus 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"I have a glandular issue." <Continues to stuff face with McDonalds>

"What kind of glandular issue? Hyperthyroidism? Cushings?"

"Well no, it's the medication I'm taking." <takes gulp of chocolate shake>

"Oh, so what are you taking? Paxil(anxiety)? Depakote(BPD)? "

"Oh no, nothing like that. I have allergies?" <continues eating mcDonald's>

[–]Sturmgeist781 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have a thyroid problem. Guess what I do? I take medication and I diet.

I take responsiblity for being overweight and I work at it. It would be nice if others took some personal responsiblity for themselves as well.

Remember the Family Guy episode where Peter ran the Quahog chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Fat People? Yeah, that sounds strikingly similar. I have a feeling the clip has a lot to do with the kinds of things you'd expect from these people.

Yup, I remember this. Simpsons had a similar one as well, where homer got so fat he was disabled. No organization for fat acceptance though.

[–]Acksiom 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Fat is like visual body odor.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Fat causes actual body odor too.

[–]Acksiom 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True, but the important takeaway point here is how it reframes the entire discussion to the benefit of everyone except for those exploiting fat folks.

It's not just a snarky phrase for dicking with people. It's a proactive, honest, and yet still respectful way forward for fat people who need a sensible model to help regulate their feelings and attitudes, particularly towards themselves. It presumes a healthier attitude of control over their own lives and behavior.

On the non-fat side, it's also a shortcut out of the usual stupid waste of time bullshit people spew on the subject. It preemptively invalidates all the exploitive, victim-privilegist whining through narrative judo. It puts the responsibility and accountability back where they belong.

I deliberately and intentionally use aphoristic stuff like that to conserve my willpower, which we're now finding out gets drained like any other chemical reserve over the course of the day's efforts.

Alright. I'll bite. The man's nickname was The Round Mound Of Rebound and he was a spokesman for Weight Watchers and you're going to try and sell/shame him on fat acceptance/fat apologists movement? Next you can tell holocaust survivors about how the holocaust totaly didn't happen. The windmill Is over that way, Don Quixote.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He does accept there are a lot of fatties in San Antonio. What's their problem? The fat acceptance movement should be the fat denial movement.

[–]link5057 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Used to live in Corpus Christi, and let me tell you, there are TONS of fat women down there. You basically got two types of women, surfers and fatties. San Antonio was just as bad, which doesn't make sense, as the city is amazing. You could walk down in SA for days on end and not get bored. Something is seriously wrong with these people.

[–]LifterofThings 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Charles Barkley's taken heat for his weight before, without anyone rushing to his defense. Harden the fuck up, people. I find it depressing that folks have the energy to get indignant over this. So Chuck's penis is not a fan of the fatties. Who fuckin cares? Do these women want to fuck him? No? Then hey, seems like a big, fat nonissue (pun intended).

[–]the_real_chronos 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance has asked Barkley to apologize.

My God I thought this was an Onion article for a second. I can't believe the shit people waste their time on. Why would anyone want to advance fat acceptance? Just get off your lazy asses wtf.

A shining example that it's easier to complain than to get shit done iIguess...

I find it so interesting when whites use the race card on a black lol.
