Every time I read something like this, I take real abuse less seriously. Eventually, we're going to live in a world where real abuse gets laughed at. "Your husband abused you? Yeah, right, cunt. Take some fucking responsibility."

When women finally have their way, everything they've tried to trump up and use to gain power is going to be powerless. Rape, abuse, shaming, sexism -- every single time a woman says, "This isn't my fault, it's due [insert stupid woman excuse here]" where that excuse might be a past rape, an abusive relationship, people making her feel bad for being fat or slutty, or evil men keeping her down simply because she's a woman -- that excuse becomes less powerful.

We already have non-manosphere, non-Red-Pill, mainstream sources laughing at rape nowadays. Drunk college girl who regrets an unwise hookup claims rape...again...story at 6. Clearly psycho and evil mother of 3 blames abusive husband for her own attempted murder of her children...read all about it. And this is common enough that you barely raise an eyebrow. You don't even smile any more. This happens all the fucking time. We were all just waiting to hear what this woman's man-blaming excuse would be.

Regardless of educational brainwashing people know deep down. Some feminist dyke from college was hanging out with a group of people and myself. She got absurdly drunk and at one point she randomly broke down crying saying how much of a whore she was.

I enjoy how much these women shoot themselves in the feet. The more "my husband abuses me", "He tried to rape me" or any other of these scapegoats is used, the less value they have. It's already getting to the point where 5 years ago I would of taken a rape claim by someone seriously, now? I've openly laughed at people making such claims. Even if the claim was a legitimate case, I can't see myself actually caring. Oh well.

[–]robesta 7 points8 points9 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The boy who cried wolf.

If feminists really cared about rape and domestic violence victims and wanted the issues elevated, they would go after women who lie to use the issue in a self serving capacity. I've never seen one word said by feminists and other advocates talking bad about women who lie about these things.

But what about that patriarchy? It's so evil! It just makes me feel angry.

I agree 100% though, It's going to take one hell of a shock to reboot this system we live in, and I hope my time is up before then, because I won't want to be here when it happens.

Every time I read something like this, I take real abuse less seriously.

Cue the "Teach husbands not to abuse!" campaign...

Respond with "Teach pregnant women to control their hormones and not murder their children" campaign...

Watch the world burn.

Doesn't look like it worked. She has a 1.2 million dollar bond.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

An attempt to blame anyone else but your self is called a self serving bias. It is a cognitive process to maintain self-esteem. Everyone does it, to an extent, can you imagine if you actually took responsibility of all your faults? Your ego, motivation, worth, would be destroyed.

[–]Deano101 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah , that's where I've been going wrong...

[–]QQ_L2P 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Apparently taking responsibility for your own faults and using the knowledge to better yourself is apparently not an option then. Some people... People can hamster all they want. But ultimately, if behaviour patterns aren't changed, they'll just keep running into the same problems over and over again.

She got to choose her husband, she dated him, married him and stayed with him.

Her children never got to pick their unstable, fucked up mother and allegedly abusive father.

I bet she doesn't even spend ten years in prison. Probably gets institutionalised in a psych ward for a few months/years then released.

There is absolutely no compassion here for that woman and I think you're demonstrating something she has most likely seen her whole life. I work for a domestic violence agency and what I'm reading here is really disturbing - the belief that it's easy for a woman to leave, that there are places for her to go (with children in tow, mind you), and never mind the obvious desperation and mental illness. I pray that nobody says to you any of the things you are saying here when you are in a time of desperation. OBVIOUSLY, I'm not saying what she did is right, but it helps to understand what drives a person to such a desperate act before being a total #$%$ online.

According to this commenter, society doesn't have enough compassion and resources for "abused" women - what kind of deluded reality do these people live in?

[–]CantankerousMind 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My uncle starting abusing my aunt(he's mentally ill and will never recover, according to doctors), and she got out immediately with 3 children. Just went to her mom's house after the police arrested my uncle(kids called the cops and their neighbor is a cop too so he helped until police arrived).

Long story short, she got out just fine, even if the situation was totally fucked up.
