“2 + 2 doesn’t equal 5″, Whitelizard says with a glint in his eye, “Actually, 2 + 2 = 4.”

Felt a little tingle in my spine when I read that almost like the first time when I really started to pay attention and embrace TRP.

“Me too,” you say, “Just…”, you look around carefully, “Keep your voice down, okay? I don’t want anyone to know I’m doing this. My dad would hate me and my girlfriend would break up with me and my boss…”

“Look,” Whitelizard interrupts, “Soon, you won’t give a shit what those people think, and you’ll find that once they see you’re happy, they won’t really care and will still love you anyway. Then you’ll be truly free. But I realize this is still new to you. One step at a time.” He smiles and slaps you on the back.

God, how true that is.

What a beautiful metaphor. This belongs on the sidebar.

Seconded.

Ha. Love this:

"Whitelizard smiles knowingly, like he’s heard it all before" I feel like this almost everyday.

I am not a fan of this allegory. I get the general idea that you can be taught something that is wrong and live with this idea. However, the piece never addresses the fact that such of the central problem comes about due to bad arithmetic. I do not think that taxes will change if you embrace red pill theory and I am not sure of any other tangible benefits/harms this piece proposes. It is simply pure fluff without content.

The taxes represent a system. The system in this allegory relies on the truth, 2+2=4. This system can be related to TRP theory and its foundation which consists of cold hard biological facts. Only when the person realizes the true way taxes work, hence the system which represents the sexual game between men and women, can he finally start benefitting from it.

I feel that is a stretch. If it was to represent that, then the piece would still be better and more powerful stating that as the premise instead of the weak allegory.

I think it's a great example. Taxes, like the Game theory, have been part of our lives for such a long time and function in an objective and logical way.

[–]recoveringdeleted 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The taxes were the same throughout the whole story, the only thing that changed was the main character's ability to properly calculate them.

This isn't a story about changing the way things are with magic powers, it's a story about being able to understand the way things are by being introduced to the truth. Once you understand the way things are you can adjust to deal with them in a more sensible manner but just because you understand them doesn't mean they change, it means you change.

[–]midnightmasses 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sooo fucking true. You can substitute almost every BP ideology for 2+2=5.

Personally, I'm not a fan of this story, for two reasons:

1) It kind of assumes that the world is still truly working on the feminist lie. In truth, almost noone past their early teens truly 100% believes in the feel-good bullshit we're often told. Even the beta-est of beta white hamster herb knights know that women and men have vastly different experiences in life, and that the former often have it better.

2) It boils down "redpill" into a single, discrete moment. For me, and probably for most, it was a very gradual process.

First you discover how easy girls have it in the dating game. Then you discover how girls are no less prone to superficiality than men, contrary to what we've been told about how they care about "personality". Then you discover that, actually, women are even more shallow than men. And then you start to hear all the experiences of other men, and you start looking at some of the scientific studies, and then, one day, you learn of, or realize, the central unifying rule: egg is eggspensive, sperm is cheap. And then you begin playing that rule out in your head, and suddenly every single anachronism and gender differential starts making sense.

And then you have to find a way past your physical limitations (for the genetically ungifted) and fuck bitches.
