You have to think about status as an absolute value. Consider at this fame , Charles Manson had a "most hated, most infamous" status, so like a -10. Someone like JFK who basically ran train through Hollywood, had a status of 10. Absolute highest status in the world, president of America during what was thought of as the golden age of camelot.

Girls don't give a fuck if your status is positive or negative, only that it is HIGH. Obviously they would prefer the 8 or 9, someone like a well respected musician or CEO, but they are A-OK with the -8, -9 too. Absolute value.

It's like the old school pickup concept of Attraction = higher value + /emotion/

It doesn't matter if you are giving her negative emotions or positive ones or both. If you have higher value than her, she wants the emotional rollercoaster ride to be intense and consuming, and attraction stems for there being a change in emotion - whether negative or positive, she couldn't care less.

This being said, a chick who was been living in a cult for several years and has had her brain fucked by one of the most notorious cult leaders for extended periods of time, and is probably facing isolation, press / media scrutiny, etc... is not representative of all women. Indeed, this may be actually a case of NAWALT - her individual anecdote is useful to think about, but does not prove anything about "all women".

No. It's just an insight into the mind of a woman. It doesn't matter that Charles Manson is evil or is 79 or that he caused the death of a lot of people. None of that logically registers in this woman's mind. She lusts after this guys dark triad just like so many have done to serial killers before. This would make absolutely 0 sense if we believed as the feminists do that there are no differences between the genders. That is why this is redpill worthy in my opinion.

I think all of these analyses are too simplistic. To say this woman is representative of the norm is false, whether or not status is a something she still seeks. There's another factor at play here which I'm surprised is not mentioned- this woman gets to be famous for marrying a famous dude, with no actual possibility of real intimacy. 9 times out of 10 I'm willing to bet that the real reason these women marry men in prison (in the cases of non-famous inmates and there are plenty) is that they were sexually abused at one point and don't want anybody who can get real close. This thing really belongs in r/psych

I think this IS an example of awalt but just to an extreme example. All women seem to go for the bad boy type. They seem to lust after that power that the dark triad exhibits. Not all women go for Charles Manson but they still go for his type to lesser extremes. The fact that he is famous is an increase to his value because it would make her famous too. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm not sure about the rest of abuse theory though because I don't think we could ever prove it one way or another.

See that's what I mean, though. Fame is something that goes beyond high-status. It's another element entirely that can't be confused with "alpha-ness". When people associate themselves with someone famous they often get a tangible benefit from it, and it can cause them to act in ways contrary to their biological imperative.

Take Madonna for example, in her mid-50s and well past any sort of normal prime you'd think of. Multi-millionaire, multi-divorced, has kids from past marriages. On paper that's all bad (going with the conventional wisdom that if the woman outearns the man, it doesn't bode well.) But she's had a string of 24-25 year old guys willing to marry her, even to sign the I'm sure iron-clad prenups they'd have to sign in order to do that. Why? I'm not changing my assumptions that men want young, attractive, women who don't have baggage. I'm assuming it's because that after marrying Madonna, the brazilian male model Jesus Luz started getting contracts with Dolce & Gabbana, having his name in the tabloids, etc.

That level of fame is just the atom bomb on normal rules, I think.

So when I remove the fame aspect from the scenario and just look at women marrying men that they didn't know prior to being inmates, the dark triad is an element to a stew of way more murky set of things going on with these particular women. Women like the dark triad traits, sure, no one's arguing that. But it takes a particular sort of woman to seek out a dude that's boxed away in jail, unable to provide, with no hope of ever getting out, and potentially a dangerous psychopath. One that in some way seeks out the safety of a partner tucked behind bars.

I dunno, maybe what we're saying is similar. But I feel like the AWALT would apply more in the case of a woman who was with a bad boy that eventually went to jail, rather than a woman explicitly seeking out someone who was already IN jail. The latter smells like crazy to me.
