The difference is that it's remarkably more difficult for men. All those things you listed don't require a whole lot of exceptionalism. For a man to both be just financially successful requires a whole lot of dedication, then throw on top of that the others, it becomes terribly difficult. Comparatively, most of the women's responsibilities are pretty easy.

She has to be attractive? Yeah, stay in shape, diet, and dress well. Cooking doesn't require a high degree of talent, neither does just cleaning up. Heck, 80% of what you listed could simply be outsourced. On the other hand, a man MUST become exceptional and sufficient. Becoming a valuable man is much harder than becoming a valuable woman.

I'll hire a maid to take care of the house, giving me the entire day to do whatever the hell I want while the kids are off at school. Nobody on TRP thinks women should have less than equal rights or opportunities. Nobody on TRP thinks women are devoid of struggles. And I'm not really into the out-victimizing each other game, even though you've not really argued why women have it as bad or worse off, other than providing examples of female struggles and saying that's what you believe. To that end, I'll simply say I don't believe their struggles are as bad. But to go one step further--even if women have the exact same unquantifiable level of struggle as men, they do seem to have a much easier time bitching about it, and when they fail to meet all the criteria, there are more than enough beta men out there willing to go along with their mediocrity. Watch how many entitled/self-indulgent/victimized Facebook posts get likes from beta men, and also watch how many of those same beta men get dragged into unhappy marriages early in their life because they didn't think they could get or deserved better.

Tinyted, have you noticed that the expectations you're rallying against are expectations construed by the feminists propoganda ? For instance you mention expectations of financial independence right ? That's the mantra feminism had been drumming into your ears and giving you the delusion that it would make you more attractive around men, score you quality guys for marriage and basically a recipe for that ideal family unit. But guess what, men are not attracted to a financially independent woman. Unless it's some weakling who is willing to take advantage of your new found "financial independence"...Other than that flaunting your financial independence is like competing with a girl on who has the bigger biceps. A banter you'd enjoy with a guy not a woman. If a woman flaunts her financial independence and her ivy league education, she comes across as masculine and that's an instant turnoff... but yea, feminism tells you otherwise and you're accusing us of holding you to the same standard. I agree with all this, and I'd add that while those traits are turnoffs romantically, they do make me respect that woman more as a colleague. They just make me have no desire to be in a relationship with her. Unfortunately, as a reformed beta who was taught that money doesn't matter as much for romance in 2013, I have a shitload of catching up to do in my career to get to a place where I can confidently provide. Until then, I'll spin plates rather than be with someone who will resent me for earning less.

Economists use attractive women in low paying service jobs as an indecation for economic depressions.

Effectively attractive women are more likely to get hired for a job they don't qualify for, because they're attractive. Then when the company has to "trim the fat" they cut the least qualified people. So that attractive person that isn't as useful as the ugly schmuck gets cut, and moves to a job as a waitress or whatever and still makes a hefty sum off tips.

I believe talent agencies can't choose to not sign someone simply because that person is unattractive due to legal reasons. There are millions of reasons to cite for not signing someone and it's more likely that an agent will overlook those reasons for an attractive person, but it will never simply be stated as "not good looking enough" since it is a form of discrimination based on appearance. Modelling agencies are third party as well, so when a client asks hire an agencies "product" the client is a customer in this sense and while still liable for discriminating based on appearance has more options to avoid discrimination charges. I assume, since it makes sense, that modelling agencies have section in their Non Competition Agreements that prevents the model/performer from accusing a client of discrimination.

Since waitresses are tipped based on service and it's practically impossible to judge what someone would have tipped if their server had been less attractive, appearance discrimination laws are (almost*) never enforced on diners.

Prostitution is already an illegal profession in most of north america and therefore cannot be enforced. In the event it was legal and it was enforced it would be subject to similar problems with service tips.
