I for one fully support the idea of Women are just as strong as men.
if that mentality goes mainstream, then atleast we can get some of those "Primary aggressor" laws changed in DV.
You Go Girl!
[–]hiyuh 15 points16 points17 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
The funny part to me is that one of the main issues feminists are obsessed with is sexual history.
"How dare you judge that girl by how many guys she's slept with! MISOGYNIST PIG!" Then, in the next breath, she could go on about how this guy's a virgin neckbeard who never gets any. It'd be funny if it weren't so depressing.
It's not even red pill vs blue pill, it's just common sense. How could anyone actually defend that?
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
good point here. the first filter is getting past the individuals who don't use common sense, the second would be the extreme feminists, then beyond that it turns into societal expectations from the less expecting individuals.

They want it not to be held against them, but such women are not regarded as relationship material because they seem to be incapable of pair bonding after a certain number of partners.
Women, on the other hand, judge a man favorably for sexual success.
So it's really funny because they only want one natural inclination to work in their favor but ignore the other gender's.

every other comment in the thread: "well because i'm a complete beta pussy who has never lifted anything in his life other than his mouse and his cock, i know a bunch of women (and children) who can still kick my ass therefore women are just as strong as men if not better."

Throwaway122212 posted links to accepted powerlifting standards showing that "elite" women still don't lift what an average man does, yet people refuse to accept facts in front of them.
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
And those "elite" women are getting shit tons of testosterone boosts everywhere they can grab them, so it's hardly even right to call them women to begin with.
If the only way you can compete with the opposite sex is to become the opposite sex, you're simply proving the inability of your own sex.

pound for pound, other than different bone structures, largely the same.
It's just that most guys don't weigh less than 150
[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 13 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
what? guys just have more muscle on them than girls. even if pound-for-pound a man and a woman weighed the same, he'd still have much more muscle and less fat. and even so, testosterone has a huge effect on strength. it's not all in body structure but in body chemistry.

are we talking as an abstract, real life, or potential?
Abstract, totally right. I've trained WTF TKD/MMA and general weight lifting since the 90s, and you see a lot less women doing physical things, because they just aren't interested; but,
Muscle doesn't equal strength, not by itself. Used muscles are better than sedentary, because they actually force themselves to work less, as a defense mechanism, they think they are avoiding injury. a higher muscle fibre count with low ATP stores, means they aren't able to do much for very long, 30 seconds at most.
on a real life example, just not a lot of women value physical fitness and fighting skills, so you just aren't going to get the kind of person who you would worry as much in a fight over. In that case, two untrained people, the stronger and heavier one usually wins.
Potentially, mens chemical, physilogical and genetic makeup means there will never be a female gold athelete in a male event, where strengrth matters (e.g. sprinting, powerlifting etc) but where skill is the deciding factor, I think you'd see rather close competitions (fencing, kendo, or other sports where a requisite amount of strength is required, but has diminishing returns after a certian point.
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 13 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
so what are you saying here?
that some women can be stronger than some men given the right variables and training? okay, but take a man and a woman of similar size and stature, give them equal amounts of training, then have them perform the same task to test strength. the man comes out on top. every. time.
[–]banalredditing -4 points-3 points-2 points 13 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
that would be the potential part of the discussion, agreed. Problem is people aren't like that.
I just don't agree with the absolutest argument of men are stronger, end of story. Take a sedentary middle aged soccer dad and put him up against a 140lb woman whose hobbies are physical, I think you'd see a soccer dad ass whopping.
If we are going to admit that male abuse by female spouses is real, and happens often, you have to accept the fact that women are capable of damaging men, otherwise it's kind of a hollow girevance.
[–]hiyuh 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
That's like saying, "A kitten could easily kill a bear!" Yes, under certain circumstances, a kitten could, but for the most part, the bear will win. Exceptions don't disprove the theory.
[–]banalredditing -3 points-2 points-1 points 13 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
if you wanted to reduce the argument to absurdity, yes you could.
[–]hiyuh 5 points6 points7 points 13 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
No, that's exactly what you're saying. Men are physically stronger than women if they're on equal footing. It's just the truth, it's not an insult to women at all. Tipping the scales and saying, "Well an athletic woman could easily overpower a 40 year old tubby guy!" doesn't disprove the main theory at all. Why does it bother you so much?
[–]banalredditing -3 points-2 points-1 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
you can have this argument without me if you want to tell me my side of it.
good luck, let me know how it goes
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
are you not listening to me or any of this? we're not saying that all women are always weaker than men. take a twenty-year-old male cancer patient and a female MMA fighter in a fight. who will win gee i wonder. but if everything given is a constant, equivalent variable, men most certainly are, and even so, just in general, men still come out on top in strength.
[–]banalredditing -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

of course, more fast twich muscle fibres, wider shoulders, no ones arguing that.
They have better hip mobility, leg strength, slow twitch muscle balance in their bodies.
Still, we aren't cavemen, we don't square off in fights in the real world, and none of that is the end argument.
you get cold cocked by a 140lb tough ass woman, and you're going to feel it. Thats how people fight nowadays
[–]_Molon_Labe_ 8 points9 points10 points 13 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

That's why men have higher squats, higher cleans, higher snatches, longer jumps, higher jumps, faster sprints, and even faster marathons.

Are we talking average, or high level,
Both. The average woman will have less performance than the average man on every level. The highest woman will have less performance than the highest man on every level.
It is only you that keep comparing these elite women to the average male.
slow twich muschles have no bearing on any of that high strength, high velocity movement, If you're going to shit on me, do it proper
I said "and even faster marathons."
Or are you gonna argue against the fact that the best female marathon runner is almost 11 minutes slower than the 15th fastest male runner?

I've got 24 threads going on this, and it's hard to keep track. most of the time, I go one way, and the guy shits on me for not going the other way.
I should have just ignored most of them and gone with threads like this one, it's a much better discource.
But naw, not going to argue the points. Originally, OP had it as a 'we are stronger, end of story' and I thought it a bit simplistic to wipe our hands of it.

There seems to be a lot of women that aren't aware of how big the strength difference is. And there are a lot of people that want to pretend the difference doesn't exist or isn't big.
You seem to be doing that pretend they are the same because you wish they are the same:
They have better hip mobility, leg strength
At every weight, men have much stronger legs.
http://www.exrx.net/Testing/WeightLifting/SquatStandardsKg.html
And that is comparing a below-average sized man to an above-average sized woman.
[–]banalredditing -2 points-1 points0 points 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I never said the same, and I totally agree.
I just know theres that grey area. but tbh, my only grip with this was the OPs inuendo that men are stronger, therefore men are better.
I imagine that to be true in caveman times, but nowadays we are goig to have to pick a better metric, otherwise we are going to be left behind.

dude, I've said it already, high end performance, women just don't have the physilogy, but everytime I talk about high end, people start arguing average. When I talk average, people keep bringin up the elite

[–]enticingasthatmaybe 3 points4 points5 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
women just don't have the physilogy
So if it weren't for the annoying bit of having to comply with the laws of physics, women would be out performing men?
When I talk average, people keep bringin up the elite
There is no point on the scale where women are stronger than men, none - your argument is not even an argument.
An MMA fighter having more strength than a random code monkey in a cubicle DOES NOT equate to women having as much strength as men.

I like joe rogans take on it. the whole point of divided gender classes was because of the mechanics, and should be based on that, not whether you have tits or not.
But TBH, I'd rather it work as a testing ground, if pound for pound, the differences are negligable, it will say a lot for our assumptions

A three plate deadlift is something a big female powerlifter might do at a meet.
A 330 deadlift gets a 165 lb female lifter into the national top 100 ranking. It gets a male onto a high-school football team.
http://www.powerliftingwatch.com/yearly-rankings/women-alltime
Edit: Heck, it gets a super-heavyweight onto the top 100 list.
[–]_Molon_Labe_ 10 points11 points12 points 13 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
You are so full of shit. I went to state in powerlifting in high school. I've competed at the college level [club, we didn't have the funding for an actual team due to title IX.] I've competed in several feds after college.
I've seen a handful of females ever pull more than 315, and one that only ever pulled above 350. She was a 240 lb black girl, pulled 430, that also squatted 400 [with a single ply suit,] who also barely got white lighted on a 225 bench. She won state, and was clearly a genetic outlier. Even at her weight, boys in the 242 class were pulling 600+ and benching 400+.
You are so full of shit it's not even funny.
Tell me the gym you work out so I see where all of these elite women train, that can pull 315.

It was the first time I ever did deadlifts when I was a sixteen year old kid. Oh wait, sorry I thought I was on r/swoledominance for a minute there.

[–]_Molon_Labe_ 9 points10 points11 points 13 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
You think 95% of guys will never deadlift 3 plates, and yet somehow you work out at a gym where women can regularly do it? If they can do it, why the fuck are claiming that clean and press helps your back? You probably don't press 135.
You realize 315 is an elite lift that 99% of women will never ever ever ever do, without spending 10+ years doing it? The average male in America weighs 195 lbs. He will be able to do a 315 deadlift after a year of training unless he has a spinal disorder. The average high school football player does 315. You've got to be kidding me.
Every single post shows that you are a troll of the highest caliber.

Not that you have back problems, you cant help that. I'm talking about most men not having the capacity to lift 140kg of the floor. If I manage to add another 10kgs to my DL I'll have doubled that and I'm not even the strongest guy in my gym.
[–]_Molon_Labe_ -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'll confirm from my personal experience, started at 135, got to 375 within a year, as crazy at that sounds. All about form and focusing on each rep, not trying to increase the weight as fast as possible...stunning what your body is capable of when you dedicate yourself to something.
oh capacity for sure. I was only speaking to the motivation and will to do it.

Well yeah, the majority of men are lazy fucks that don't care about their bodies. However, the majority of men also have the genetic capacity to deadlift three plates if given even a modicum of effort. That's the point here. Men have a greater capacity for muscle mass. It's because our testosterone levels are higher.
yup. potential for sure.
[–]badass9000 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
3 plates is not that hard. I got there in a few months and I was skinny as hell. But you are right, in my university gym I only see around 20% of the guys lifting more than 3 plates.
[–]mach11 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
3 plates is a beginner level deadlift. Athletic men will pull 315 the day they are taught the motion. Maybe your gym has those new post-modernist plates that are twice as heavy for men.

I hold TRP to a standard is all. If we are going to blast femenism, and we should, I don't want us to do the same stupid shit they do.
And it's a fairly accurate generalization. It's not that they aren't capable (which is the generalization I wasn't for) it's about whether they do.

There's a male to female transsexual on there, whose name escapes me, who absolutely destroys all the women, it's fucking brilliant to watch the feminist hamsters spin out of control. On the one hand if they say this is just a dude with his dick off and he's too strong they're admitting male physical superiority plus they are being transphobic (which is totally part of the patriarchy). And on the other hand if they don't say anything he/she is just going to continue dominating the genetic girls. Sometimes you've gotta laugh at the pickles they get themselves into.

My brother is a pro MMA fighter (actually undefeated!) and after going to a few of the events to support him, I'd rather fight a man than a woman. The female MMA fights are some of the most brutal, ruin-your-face things I've ever seen
Well, duh, it's biological hardwiring. Women tear down the appearance of other women because it creates less competition for their sexual strategy. This is just a violent way of a woman telling another woman she looks awesome even though she's getting too fat and that dress looks horrible on her. They can ruin another woman's face, an important asset, under the guise of "sport".
Would a guy with options want to bang, date, or marry a chick with a crooked Owen Wilson nose, missing teeth, and a bone structure deformed with random patches of calcium buildup received from multiple contusions? Likely not, and the women know this on some level, whether they are fully conscious of it or not.
I'd add that I too, would prefer fighting the girl, because I am not a trained cage fighter, and a man would kick my ass all over the place, but I know can pick up and throw a 140 lb chick across the room (for all the idiots who might be reading, no it wasn't domestic violence, but mutual fun).

I reckon this has a lot to do with the shape of a woman's face and the quality of her skin. I don't see a lot of women, even in the world of MMA, whose faces look like they could withstand much punishment without turning into hamburger.
Men are on average obviously stronger.
How it related to that post, I don't know.
