It stays free — no paywall, no account — for the next man who comes looking, the way it was free for you.

Apparently some 4chan user came to the exact same conclusions as Neil Strauss.

Beyond the occasional XKCD bash of pick up artists and making fun of mystery the main stream has no earthly idea what the manosphere is

Making fun of Mystery is right up there with "what's the deal with airline food" in terms of dead jokes.

Neither Roissy nor Roosh have any chance of being treated well in the media. That's not to say they won't be mentioned, but the best we can hope for is to be called an "alarming trend".

I think Dalrock has more power than people give him credit for. He is married, with a child, who seems to a be a great father/husband. He has the potential for an okay media image.

I take it that you haven't seen this link yet?

80/20 odds he's divorced in 5 years.

I doubt it. His wife was a virgin before him, he knows how to maintain attraction, and she's more enlightened about her sexual nature than most women.

There are quite a few in the manosphere who are happily married and will most likely remain so, in no small part because of their extensive red pill knowledge. Keoni Galt, Ian Ironwood and Athol Kay, to name a few.

...because of their extensive red pill knowledge.

In spite of their red pill knowledge is more like it. Even expert tightrope-walkers can break their necks; especially if they were to rely on a woman to hold the rope.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 13 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's the analogy you go with? Marriage as a tightrope in which women hold the rope? Wouldn't you need two of them, one to hold each end? Or is one end tied to a post? What does the post represent, feminism? And where did the net go? I don't know if you've ever fallen down, but have you never heard the expression "tuck and roll"?

Better analogy: captain and first mate. Good Captains do not suffer mutinies because they know how to handle a ship and its crew. Or maybe dog trainer. Is being bitten an occupational hazard? sure. But with proper training, it's far less likely.

Marriage 2.0 does not allow for traditional hierarchy. To use your metaphor, if the 1st mate at anytime feels disaffected or sees a better deal, she can take the captain's ship and make him walk the plank.

But with proper training, it's far less likely.

Anything over a 1% failure rate should be considered unacceptable, considering the substantial risks involved (You wouldn't cross the Atlantic on a ship with a higher failure rate, would you capt'n?). Current marriage failure rates are nearing 60%. The red-pill take away is not to marry. Leave the turd-polishing to the blue pillers. They have enough of them.

Great post there by Zhai -

The blog world is slowing eating away at “mainstream” media like newspapers. The newspapers are like a tyrannosaurus rex in a tarpit. They can scream and struggle, but they’re sinking.

The manosphere doesn’t need a leader. It is more effective without any single leader. If we have a leader, we can be co-opted. The leader can be bribed and brought to heel.

If we have no leader, we might never become mainstream, but that doesn’t mean we won’t have a salutary effect.
