Moore is reportedly wealthier than Kutcher

/facepalm

The opposite of this happens every day. Rich man's wife cheats on him and files for divorce. Does the wife pay the husband alimony?

Fake marriage, fake alimony dispute. Hollywood manufactures this shit to sell magazines and maintain celebrity culture.

[–]TRP Vanguardtheubercuber 2 points3 points4 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hate how plausible that sounds

alimony is fine if the mom is a stay at home mom, for a certain period of time. to let her get life re-organized and all that. it was originally intended to support housewives who had no marketable skills and couldn't just get a job in a week or two, and i think that's valid

unlimited alimony forever is horseshit though, and so is alimony going to either spouse if both spouses are rich. if you're worth more than 100k then it shouldn't matter how much the other person is worth, you dont need alimony

Agreed. Even if the woman was a stay at home mom during the marriage she took that role out of her free will. If she didn't want to be a stay at home mom she simply wouldn't get pregnant/leave the marriage. She wasn't forced into it.

What you and that other guy said is absurd. What about a woman who married a man that turned out to be abusive. She wants to leave with the kids but has no money to support them and no marketable job skills. She's stuck getting beaten and watching the kids take abuse too because otherwise she would be homeless. That's where alimony comes in. That's an extreme case but I had to use it to counter how extremely insane your view on alimony is.

jsh1138 has a much more reasonable view on alimony. It gets abused like anything in the legal system, which sucks, but it was created for a good reason. I think it needs some reform now, but what you said is disgusting and ignorant.

Hmmmm..... didn't expect shaming tactics to be used here out of all places.

Anyway your whole argument hinges based on a very small percentage of cases. It's quite clear that my statement applied to the majority of the cases where the woman simple gets bored of her rich husband and divorces him. Male disposibility is encouraged in our courts which is a disgrace. There are more flaws in your argument which I will point out later (am on phone now so it's long to type out).

Tell ya what. You can save your time and we can go our separate ways. I stumbled into this subreddit on accident and find it pretty ridiculous (no shaming intended there, just my opinion...don't be so sensitive?). Honestly I just disagree with almost everything I saw here. Sorry just being real. I really don't mean any offense, I'm sure you can handle someone not agreeing with you. You probably feel similarly about me I guess.

With my first comment I wasn't really making a case, I was proving a counterexample to your broad generalization. There are many other variations of this that are less extreme. You oversimplified to support your theory.

Don't think you yourself are going to present me with anything new though. I've read heavily into the MRA stuff and just couldn't find enough truth to it to justify the extreme views (I actually found a lot of the stats to be flimsy or misrepresented and the opinions coupled with it to be repulsive). That's just me though! I still think society is unfair to men in some ways and those things need to change (I agree with reforming alimony in certain ways among other things). I'm not saying it's all bunk, I'm saying people go way too far with it, and it becomes hateful. Don't hate me because we disagree. Perhaps I shouldn't have been so aggressive before but I answered what I found to be an extreme comment with another extreme. Oh well. That's discourse for ya. Carry on and I shall do the same.

"Although it is unlikely that the 50-year-old actress will get spousal support from Kutcher, Moore has had a history of success with divorce settlements. She reportedly received $90 million after her 2000 split from ex-husband Bruce Willis"

Ridiculous.

Demi Moore is hideous.

ashton could choose any girl in the world yet he chose this old brag... mind blown.

It was interesting to look at all the recent celebrity photos. Celebrity women I used to find super hot two years ago, now look like they're on their way out...

On a related note, I wonder what the "shelf life" of the average female actress born before, say, 1980 is compared to those of actresses born after.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good point there. Even the miley cyrus shots these days (trying to take into account the paparazzi's goal of making her look bad) are showing signs of decay that I wouldn't have expected. And no, not a major fan, just saw that as one that stuck out in the photos. Had to put that disclaimer up lol.

Ironic considering Demi Moore's character in "Mr. Brooks".
