I don’t agree with your opinion on comedians, especially stand up comedians. If you have ever seen a comedian deal with a heckler then you would know that they have solid frame. Their entire routine resolves around their frame. They are not just something for cheap laughs.

Depends on the comedian. Are you making jokes because you personally find them funny and want to share or are you using humor to mask a deficit in personality? Are people laughing at you or with you?

On some level you can call all performers "dancing monkeys".

Doesn't mean they are useless or have no insight, though.... in elevating their craft/brand many work hard to observe the world and create brilliant conclusions cloaked in humor.
