Just a general discussion question. I'm in my early 20s so I've been thinking about my close personal relationships.

I feel that of my friends (group of about 5 guys) I have the most RP knowledge (not a lot, but the most). I've spent more time learning the fundamentals about RP life and game. As a result, I've put more into practice.

Besides one very RP friend, my friends aren't totally beta- highly sociable, they can put down game, they found solid careers. However, they seem complacent, and we don't really compare when it comes to ambition. They get bitched by the girls they've dated, settle for less money, complain a lot and sometimes it seems they're running in place. One of my close friends talks big game about making it big but takes few concrete steps towards achieving that lifestyle. Some will try to take up the gym but lack the discipline; smoke weed a bit too much etc. But hey, they seem happy overall and I can't knock that.

I guess I'm afraid this rubs off on me as I can notice some of the complacency in me when I hang around them a lot- however, these are good guys and I like spending quality time with them. I have since we were way younger.

Where I'm confused is that overall, it's a solid group to lean on and we do a lot of fun shit together. In essence they do act/talk RP but with beta tendencies. Should I be putting less stock into these relationships or exercise techniques that keep me from their influence? Should I seek out stronger RP friendships to keep myself happy and focused?
