Check out Jack Slack for the best theoretical striking commentary. He writes about mma, boxing as well as other martial arts. He's got a podcast called fights gone by.

If you really want to understand boxing, lee wiley boxing makes some amazing historical breakdowns of the little things that legendary fighters did that made them so great. Right now I'd say work on shadowboxing and hitting the bag as much as possible, and try to go to EVERY SINGLE CLASS that you can if you really want to improve. Good luck.

If you really want a book, I think Dempsey's is the classic of orthodox boxing.

11 years boxing here, 2 years before thaiboxing and a lot of judo before that.

The most important lesson I learned are: for the first half year, go to the place you have a trainer watching you every week. After half a year you can skip a course if someone dies... but for the first half year... make it 2 trainings a week, better would be 3.

The basics are so important. And if you don't show up constantly you will take endlessly long to learn them.

And as I train the class if our trainer is off... I watch people and if they show up constantly they get my attention. I'm so sick of people you teach basics after their first month and then they never show up again... I can't train myself advanced technique If I do too much beginner training (time issue). So I make sure it counts and wont be wasted.
