Women don't get abortions because of bodily autonomy, bodily autonomy allows them to get abortions. Of course avoiding parenthood is the primary reason.

i read much less feminist commentary online than you do so you might be seeing some different and wild things... but bodily autonomy is the reason abortion must remain an option. it isn’t the primary reason women get abortions though. in most cases, it’s pretty obvious that abortions are done out of lack of interest/capability in being a parent.

Yes, abortion is about getting out of pregnancy, and by extension parenthood (Although one could also opt out of that via adoption). No one gets an abortion for shits and giggles. But women don't get abortions because of bodily autonomy. The argument is that a right to bodily autonomy protects those women who do get them from legal repercussions.

Biology sucks for you

Actually, biology doesn't suck for you in this case: You can't be forced to carry a pregnancy. Because of biology. That's why these protections exist for women, because they can.

You have bodily autonomy same as everyone. No one can force you to give up your kidney or prevent you from leaving the country. No one is forcing you to physically parent a child you don't want. At most, you could be made to pay child support, which is not a part of your body.
