Why do some women like to ask for the best way of doing somethin, if they will anyway criticize it & do things their way?

I have this female co worker that will tell me:

"Hey, can you write down the ways of handling xyz?"

I do. And after when we go over it, she starts telling me, this is not good and adds details to it, which are ridiculous addition, not really changing anything. Neither our boss knows she did the "work", so its not that she shows of in front of boss.

Is this because she wants to feel superior and cooler, so she needs to criticize something to show her importance and take on subject, even though she is very incompetent? Is this common women trait?
