Speaking as a woman gamer, I'd be more interested and likely to follow if they did follow up studies.

I do think that people who generally have more success in life are likely to be happier and not need to shit on other people, and that's not something unique to the gaming community. I've been a gamer for 20+ years, and a human being (so long as I've had my caffeine) for longer. The gaming community is an interesting ecosystem.

In games and sports, there is something called tilt. It is when you encounter hardship or failure in an activity, and respond with a lack of focus due to anger and frustration. Tilt causes players to lash out and perform poorly. Experienced and skilled players know about tilt, and when confronted with the temptation to express it, they manage and reduce it instead. Unless you are a bizarre player that feeds off their own tilt (Phil Hellmuth), managing tilt, (or holding frame?) is one of the key components in separating yourself from mediocre players.

Unskilled players will often get mired in tilt, and spend the rest of the match spitting venom at their teammates. If I had to make a guess, I would say the woman in the study was unskilled at the game, and through her performance was tilting the less skilled players on her team.

I agree with the author that one study doesn't make something a fact, results need to be replicated, so more studies need to be done. I don't think using halo 3 is a problem.

So, I'm a big gamer, mostly retro gamer to be honest, but I do have a few new things. So I'll try to comment. A couple of things mentioned here gave me the sour belches kinda.

The idea that scientific studies are attempting to sabotage games is laughable. This has got conspiracy written all over it. But also, there was this interesting study talked about here and many other sites:

Hopefully that helps refute his nonsense of "Researchers seem to take abject pleasure in pushing the idea that video games are the absolute worst thing to ever befall society". Now granted, I'm not sure of all the details, but I remember reading that story there. So fuck off to the writer here.

I'm also surprised red pillers are pissed off at something that's not sound science, considering they either use that, or have ridiculous confirmation bias.

Anyway I've heard about the study, and if the methods aren't the best, yeah, better studies and more research is needed.
