Read this post and the resulting comments. What you are seeing is almost assuredly a skewed reality. Some kind of selection bias in your life has you thinking that RP people and extreme feminists are the norm and they just aren't. Both are tail ends of a normal distribution of emotional range. So you see them as being filled with nothing but hate, and maybe they are. Maybe they had some shitty experiences and can't emotionally deal with it. Most people are like me: have had some shitty experiences and deal with it and continue to go through life, loving others, opening our hearts, getting them hurt (by both same sex friends and opposite sex romantic partners), and not really getting into that spot of hate for too long. If it ever goes there, it's at that person, not a whole gender.

Another thing, you need to consider is projection. It's possible that you have a lot of hate in you and so you just see that hate reflecting in others. If you see an emotion, you don't understand: hate. If you see an emotion that is opposing to your worldview: it's an act and hate. But people are a lot more complex than that. They are ambivalent and have different, almost opposing goals, in the short and long terms. If you feel the whole world is hate, then probably you need to open your heart up a little more.

Updated.

If one looks at a person and sees not another human being, but the manifestation of an idea from his own head, then hatred will always win the war. That person you see walking on the street is not your worthless cheating ex-partner the summation of their entire gender.

You beat me to it. Well said.

Typical bluepill feelgood bullshit.

If you keep getting bitten in the hand you extend to someone else and yet you keep doing it, this doesn't make you an ~amazing Human Being~, it makes you a fucking moron who can't put 1 and 1 together.

I don't reall experience much of this gender war tension/struggle/ in every day life though. It is magnified here and in other subs, I just operate on the assumption that men and women can connect at the individual level while still being puzzled by and frustruated with gender as a whole.

I live in the south, where the average dude for cultural and religious reasons tends to be more traditional and I have zero problems interacting with the spouses and BFs of my friends, I just talk about what I think interests them and save my deeper stuff for people I have more in common with. I refuse to embarrass people I care about with pointless and angry political conversations with their partners.

Maybe you should get out more.

I'm serious, I've never seen anyone on the "extreme" end of the spectrum in real life. Most people live normal lives with normal relationships and no hate in either direction.

You are online, people here suck, guess why so many are against gender rolls. They are social outcasts and didn't manage to blend in .

It's cyclical. The pendulum will swing back again.

I have to wonder if on a practical level we have just missed the boat on true equality.

"True equality" is a fucking pipe dream, and it is a societal fool's errand to try to pursue it. This is why TRP rails against this egalitarian equalist bullshit that feminism perpetuates. The more we whitewash society with this fantasy bullshit, the more we lose our own identities.

No data here, but I'd guess that the RP ragers and mad radfems you describe are both minorities.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, if you think about it, with how different both genders are, it's amazing it didn't happen.

I don't know if I would describe the way I feel about women as hatred. I definitely respect them less than I used to and I do have a general dislike for female personalities. I don't see this changing in the current societal landscape.
