The TRP members who cry about how marriage used to be great, but that it sucks now just don't understand that marriage has always sucked.

I think that permanent monogamy is ultimately counter to human nature. People don't realize that cheating and infidelity are as old as humanity. In the past, it was either easier to hide due to less technology (no ability to snoop phones, email, etc.) and poorer medical science (no such thing as paternity tests), or people just kind of dealt with it because divorce wasn't possible. A big component of TRP is, essentially, the idea that the sexual market has been deregulated in a sense, and we're seeing a return to more pure market forces acting.

I believe that women can resist the urge to trace in their husbands for someone more immediately attractive just as men can resist the urge to trade in their wives for something younger and hotter. On an individual level it rmjust requires unfashionable ethics like honour and a sense of duty.

On a societal level I think we could do a much better job of structuring incentives to make the temptation less tempting, though, like the re-stigmatisation of divorce and the end of Oprah ethics that declares that you always deserve the best of everything no matter what.

Well half of all marriages end in divorce and the vast majority of those divorces are instigated by the woman so . . . they may have a point there.

Mostly it doesn't work.

As a legal contract, as a law, as a system of incentives marriage fails miserably.

Only German marriage have been updated to be fair for both sexes.

BUT BEYOND THAT.

The question is how do you make a woman your wife? That question has nothing to do with abstract legal concepts.

This is where TRP is fundamental, even TRP does not recognize its true potential.

The concept of frame, of setting boundaries, of leadership is fundamental to connect man to woman.

You have to train your woman, you have to make her yours, you have to dominate her utterly, you have to conquer her.

Only then you will have a family, and family is power.

How marriage used to work: Women's sexuality was controlled and regulated by a strict society that prevented her from slutting it up. This forced women to be with their husbands only, leading to stable marriages and nuclear families that raised kids well.

How marriage currently works: women slut it up since no one tells them not to, they enjoy their AF during their 20s, quickly find a beta provider in their 30s, grow bored of their marriage within 5 years, divorce, gain alimony and child support, become a single mother, enjoy some more AF, improperly raise their child, and create a broken generation.

So, your thoughts on TRP and marriage?

TRP is correct in its belief that marriage is no longer worth it.
