Sounds like you've learned an important lesson today. Their idea of relationship building has been obsolete since the 90s at best. At worst, people who still think this way are being shamed as "nice guys" who try to manipulate women using "covert contracts". I don't necessarily subscribe to the latter, but it does show how far in the other direction the pendulum has swung.

The reaction you got is not unusual. People have seriously hard time breaking their blue pill programming, and will lash out at and shame anyone else trying to break it. It is called the crab bucket. Lots have been written about it. Investigate The Red Pill side-bar.

Accept that TRP is something you do without your friends, and never bring it up again, unless they ask with genuine curiosity. Even then, them bringing this topic up should be approached with extreme prejudice.
