I’m in medical school right now, this is my purpose and I’ve worked hard to build myself into a good doctor and leave my mark. If you’re passionate about it and it’s in line with the lifestyle you want to build then of course it’s what you should be doing.

Asking if it’s overrated Is ludicrous. Only you know the answer to that. You don’t sound like you really want it. If you WANT it as much as you want to breathe then you wouldn’t be asking such a valueless question

I picture Australia as being even more BP than my own country, UK - and that's really something.

Being RP in UK and Aus is something you definitely have to do on the down low and you have to be very careful who you talk to about it.

Being a doctor is a pretty great move no matter which way you cut it though. Specialise and open a practice, stay single and you'll be doing extremely well for yourself. It also carries big social status. That said, it's not something you can do half heartedly, it takes years of very hard study and insane working hours to get there.
