Should I join the air force?

Be very careful with the recruiter. They will push you to fill vacancies in other jobs instead of the one you want. Whether you go active/guard pick a job that you will enjoy for 4-6 years.

Bonus info:

-Security Forces/Maintainers work 13-14 hr shifts daily.

Cyber Transport is a 6 month tech school that can open up 6 digit income streams long term

-The hard jobs are rewarding/good comradery but can lead to burnout quick

You can change jobs after a few years

-If you're not "Group A" (Security+special forces) you only have to shoot once in a while, rifle only

-If you wash out of hard tech school like EOD, PJ, etc you WILL be put in security forces by default

-You get paid the same no matter what job

-School benefits both guard/active

Other info/recommendations:

-Easy jobs get a lot of flack, but have very good quality of life (personnel, comm jobs)

-Harder jobs are rewarding but impractical to a certain extent

-BMT is a joke, just make sure you can run fast, do a lot of push ups and sit ups

-Don't get married before leaving

Use own discretion for AF women afterwards. One of my friends was accused of rape (she consented to sex, got jealous of his power/postion), arrested

-One girl who was a slut in tech school accused someone of rape too.

-AF is "career focused". Volunteering and other extra things are highly important in active for promoting

-In the guard you get promoted automatically as long as you've met the time in service requirements

most jobs give you about an hour and a half for lunch and to work out (except police)

-base cafeteria aka dfac isn't free unless training usually

Deployments arent too bad and money is tax free
if I could do it again i would ve picked a techy job or something secret squirrel like Intel. Stability is more important to me now than picking something cool
the army gets paid less in basic I think
Don't say open general for your job if going active

-No matter what, the AF has been a great experience. Ive learned a lot spiritually about God and about being a man

-Almost died twice on last deployment

Learned to both hate/love chain of command system. It's like playing telephone with a tin can and anything important will always get lost or messed up. On the other hand its a good safety net for you, worst comes to worse you can say you passed information along and it's not your fault they messed stuff up higher rank speaking

go to college for atleast a year before making a decision like that. trust me, you will thank me later.

if you don’t know what to do with your life, this is not a bad option at all, most likely better than wasting your time trying to figure out what you want to do in college and collecting debt. and if you don’t want to pick up a trade right away out of high school, the military is a good route. if you want to be an entrepreneur or business owner and you’re very confident and understand what you need to get done, it may be best to just start working on that depending on the endeavor. always go with your gut man, you know where you have to go, there’s an eternal compass in there. the military is not a bad route for lost ones, adds some direction and pays you, especially at your age. if you don’t like it you get out at 22 with a ton of benefits. just don’t go do something stupid and waste your military pay check on a brand new car that you don’t even get to drive, and don’t get caught up in a marriage which the military will try to push on you as a good idea.

My friend did that. He was in college, didn't really know what to do. Wanted to graduate but needed the money. He has been in for 7 months, has his own car, is learning to fix planes, he is pretty fucking independent. He gets a lot of respect too. I don't see a downside to it. Especially since your college will get paid.

LOL doesn't know what to do with his life. Thinks Air Force counts for not thinking about it. Provides no basis for attraction to Air Force.

wtf question is this. AFAIK the AF hires thinkers. You're all impulse. Not bad to have your energy, but you're scattered and wasting it.

Do you want to get married or stay single and travel? Do you want to have freedom and independence? Or security and structure as dominant values in your professional life? Do you play COD or HALO and think that your military career will be like the Bourne movies?

Some of the pros include the gi bill and saving up a good chunk of money if you’re smart as well as a unique experience. But if you have the grades for it l, 100% go rotc. You get a full ride to school and when you graduate you make at least double than you would’ve had you enlisted. But let’s be honest the modern military is a lot of propaganda to get dumb young kids with no money to join. You’ll work long hours, poor quality of life (best in the Air Force) and depression rates for service men are incredibly high. You can make as much working a retail job than you can if you enlist.

Tl;DR: go rotc to get the full benefits. Enlist if you’re truly passionate about service and have no idea what you want to do in life.

Out of all branches, airforce is the best. But I still don’t recommend joining the military as enlisted. You’re gonna be bottom of the food chain. It’s not fun. If I could go back I would’ve stayed in college instead of joining the navy
