Women argue, under the flag of feminism, for the right to their sexual freedom. Some march topless in public to demonstrate how badly they would like to express their bodies.
Some women, under the flag of feminism, use that freedom to make thousands of dollars doing porn. They exploit their newfound sexual freedom and express their bodies for monetary gain.
Other women, under the flag of feminism, say that the women being paid to do the porn are now "slaves of patriarchy", and that their sexual expression of their bodies should be stopped and banned.

The old adage has never been more true:

Women TRULY do not, in fact, know what the fuck they want.

The funniest part of the whole thing was that the pornstars who were there called themselves feminists were arguing with the protesters who also called themselves feminists.

This shouldn't be surprising -- any broad philosophy is going to be interpreted differently as it spreads, and some of those interpretations are bound to be contradictory.

I ended up leaving the protest because I was on the brink of beating the shit out of one of the white knight male feminist protesters.

Would an alpha male get riled up by some dick on the street?

I think there are two impulses going on with the protestors. One of them is this elitist notion that depictions of sexuality have to fit this rarefied format which oh-so-conveniently fits in with the tastes of elite women. Methinks that they aren't trying to get Harlequin banned. After all, the plots depict the women in situations outside of sex to frame it: the exact opposite of the porn they protest.

The other impulse consists of sex abuse victims who have been weaponized to channel their justified anger towards their abusers onto the porn industry. Instead of getting revenge on some relative or neighbor who turned a 11 year old them into a sex object, they vent their rage onto someone having sex on camera. It's cathartic...and dangerous. This is where the Andrea Dworkins and Catharine MacKinnons of the world come from.

The porn industry is evil, vile, immoral, and it definitely mistreats women. Look up "porn industry horror stories" and you will find tales of women desperate for cash who sign up for a very vanilla scene, only to show up the day of the shoot to see a bunch of huge black guys getting ready for pounding. Of course the girl can opt out, but doing so would waste tons of money they spent getting ready to shoot and her agent would make sure she never gets another scene after screwing everyone over by leaving the day of the shoot. One anal prolapse, one lacerated vagina, and a couple surgeries later, she's ready to do another scene.

There are plenty of reasons why porn should be protested. But those cunts in NY were not protesting any of that. They just don't like men "objectifying" women by looking at images of them.
