A plate? No. That's pretty ridiculous.

If she's a FWB or something approaching a girlfriend, then I would. I had a FWB that I dated (non-exclusively) for awhile, and I got her a small birthday gift after 7 months. Occasionally she would give me a book that she thought I would enjoy. It seemed natural to me at that point that we would do these things. We got to know each other as well as any boyfriend/girlfriend would.

As someone here said, a present implies an emotional connection. It shouldn't be something that you do because you feel forced.

That's the wrong question.

The right question is "has she won it?".

She can't deserve it for being pretty or giving sex. She has to make an effort to please you/obey you.

You can only give a gift as a reward, and never to gain her approval.
